So he's been here a bit longer now, yeah he's out of action but we've seen what he can do, he still gets mic time, he's improving so let's ask, how is he?
I like him. He started off rough but he's noticeably improved and his mic skills along with his English have drastically improved. He's more comfortable all-around now. When he gets back, I see him as the guy to take the title from Finn but I say he'll maybe get a 4-6 month run without the title to get his feet wet again. Overall he's doing well and he's the prime example of how to get an international star adjusted to the WWE system. NXT works wonders.

I enjoy him. I do think he needs to eventually actually use the G2S instead of doing nothing but teasing and His English is definitely improving.

My main reaction is to spend every moment he's onscreen wishing WWE would just once have a Japanese guy whose gimmick isn't, "KICKOO!"

Gonna be brutally honest.
Roughly the same time, within months at least, I discovered NJPW and Wrestle Kingdom 9. I didn't know jack about Japanese wrestling besides that KENTA was a huge name. I was excited when he came to NXT because Bryan and Punk had seemingly taken notes from him.
He hasn't done anything noteworthy to me. He and Finn Balor came in as equals and Balor quickly eclipsed Hideo in pretty much every way. Hideo is struggling uphill because he doesn't have the physique, he doesn't have promo skills for an American audience, he doesn't have much of a character... Especially when I've just seen dudes like Nakamura and Okada, and especially knowing the kind of guy WWE pushes, I don't have high hopes for Hideo Itami.
Not saying he's bad, and really, he's much MUCH better than 99% of who WWE wants to push, but they haven't presented him in a way that makes me think they're going to present him stronger any time soon.

Love the guy. Easily one of the best talents they have.
If he's not on the main roster by WM next year, it'll be a crying shame. A guy that talented doesn't belong anywhere but at the top.

He was starting to find his footing when the shoulder injury got the better of him. I think when he returns he'll be much more WWE fluid but I don't think he'll ever be a guy that headlines PPVs for them.

I thought he was improving slowly, I was really starting to get into him before he got hurt, which is terrible timing. I'm sure the push Finn is getting right now was probably meant for him, but if we get a feud between the two when he comes back, I'm all for it.

I think he'll do a great job on the main roster losing to wrestlers most people don't like.

If it helps, YouTube some of his matches with Daniel Bryan or Nigel McGuiness.

Not a bad looking guy. He wouldn't be my first choice to take to the prom, but I'd hang out with him and play video games.

I think when he returns he'll be much more WWE fluid but I don't think he'll ever be a guy that headlines PPVs for them. He's def improved a lot in learning the WWE style and it shows. If they give him the big videos on the main roster like they been doing for Finn and have guys like Bryan talk him up as someone he admired from afar, he will have a nice footing. I'm pleasantly surprised he's dived head first into learning English, which will def help him out when connecting to the fans. Wonder how him teasing the GTS on the main roster will go.

He's just a giant 'meh' to me, honestly, I couldn't tell you anything about him other than 'the Japanese guy on NXT.'
