I don't know the specifics about this. But if ROH is running a show in the same city on the same day, if NXT scheduled their show after it was already known ROH was running, that's pretty unnecessary of WWE to do to "the little guy," unless it is their goal to hurt them. Sure, business is business. But I think the word unnecessary is most applicable here. I think WWE booked the building first... since they are running it for Summerslam the next night. Knowing when it was exactly scheduled they were going to use it for NXT is the difficult part... it was only announced recently though. ROH booked the building first. MCU Park does an annual Basebrawl event with wrestling on the field the second of third weekend every August. Until 2014, TNA always did it. Last year, ROH took over and rechristened it Field of Honor. Technically, Field of Honor 2015 was announced before Summerslam was even announced for New Jersey as it's been a Staples Center staple (pun somewhat intended) for years. When tickets officially went on sale for Field of Honor, Summerslam was still scheduled for the Izod Center in New Jersey. By the time Summerslam was moved to Barclay, it was well after ROH at MCU Park was public knowledge. The NXT show at Barclay was announced at most two weeks ago. As I mentioned in another thread. WWE has never openly competed with another promotion in such a way. Even in the Monday Night Wars, WWF never ran within a 20 minute subway ride of WCW. Closest thing was in 2012 when WWE TLC, the company's debut in Barclay, was the same night as ROH's Final Battle 2012, but that was an afternoon show, so fans had plenty of time to get from Hammerstein Ballroom to Barclay. (30 minutes on the subway as both are on the express line) Part of the thrill of MCU Park's annual Basebrawl events is casual or even non-fans turning out to try seeing wrestling at the ballpark. It's a big Brooklyn thing, and it made last year's Field of Honor really fun as a good 40% of the crowd weren't followers of ROH but I got to see a mass of people introduced to such a unique and different style of wrestling at the same time. Made a big difference from the ROH typical Manhattan shows too as there wasn't the overwhelming majority of super-jaded fans. I fear the worldwide leader in wresting being less than a halfhour away from Basebrawl is going to kill the novelty that a lot of families look for.

Honestly? I'd go to NXT, but I am kind of a big Jushin Liger fan and would jump at the chance to see him.

Ever since ROH started airing Wednesdays, TNA moved to Wednesday, and I've started working nights, I've pretty much stopped watching the weekly NXT shows. I know it's on demand, but I'm still archaic like that, I like to watch things when they're "on".

I haven't made any real attempt to follow NXT in months, ROH I don't watch religiously but do typically try and see lately. They're probably about the same level of quality, but ROH doesn't cost me money to watch and I'm less inclined to think about my general distaste for WWE these days when not watching a product put out by them, you know?

My point being that if NXT was at Izod, you're talking about two different states. More specifically, MCU Park is at the southern most tip of New York City, and Izod is over the state lines into Jersey. Considering the nature of the family-friendly Basebrawl event and the location, there's a HUGE different between running a show 4 hours away and running a show 20 minutes away.

It's really hard for me to throw all my support towards ROH when there is a huge cloud of misogyny hanging over it. Are they still unbelievably homophobic as well?

Don't know where the misogny comes from. And only one wrestler was homophobic, and he is no longer champion.

I bought my tickets for Field of Honor when they first came out so I'm going there. Gotta say though, if I knew NXT was gonna run a show at the time I would've probably chosen it instead.

If I was able to go to one live, I'd pick ROH for Okada, Nakamura, and Kushida. You can easily watch the NXT special when you get back or the next day. Exactly this. It could be your only chance to see those guys.

Still, you can catch NXT on the network afterwards (or during if you're feeling ridiculous). I'd go with ROH but it doesn't matter because I can't go to either, living in Georgia and all.

I have tickets to ROH and I'm happy about it. I would like to get to an NXT show eventually, but I feel like the ROH show will be a lot more fun. NXT should be a great time, as well, but I feel like the atmosphere and match ups at the ROH show will be quite unique.
I'm a big Liger fan, so that's the only major thing that is making me super sad about missing NXT. However, I've seen Liger live a few times in other promotions, so seeing him is already crossed off of my bucket list.

Even though Liger is not the Liger of 1991, it would be special to see him live. Still, I think I'd rather see Okada and Nakamura live. And Kushida, but especially Okada and Nakamura.

I'm doing ROH's Field of Honor. Along with the great card, the experience in MCU Field is really a unique one, with the absolute best view of the Coney Island fireworks which they time just right to showcase before the main event. As cool as NXT Takeover might be, it's a stadium show the night before another stadium show and the roster are talented enough to where we're probably going to get many chances to see them live over the next few years. A lot of Field of Honor feels like an event where some of these matches will only happen once. Plus, the crowd for last year's was great as it was at least 40% families who were casual wrestling fans and unfamiliar with the product, and getting the joy to see them explode after being exposed to ROH for the first time, as opposed to the pockets of jaded fans who seem to go to a lot of the Manhattan ROH shows. It's a fun unique atmosphere with a once-in-a-lifetime card. Especially if you don't get to Coney Island all that often. I ordered my tickets for ROH already. How is the general admission seating at MCU?

I don't follow Puro like I used to so I've missed a lot of stuff. Liger would be a treat to see but I can't recall much of his work in the US being on the same level as his stuff in NJPW in the 90's. I'm sure he can still have a good match, but it probably won't be anything I haven't seen before.

Yes, Nakamura has worked on the ROH/New Japan Global Wars and War of the World shows over the past two years. Granted, half of those shows were in Canada.
