To be fair to Stephanie, "comeuppance" does sound a bit like a style of pornography. And we don't want her children googling on the internet for pornography.

It's funny because she got embarrassed by AJ Lee on Twitter for this same issue, and it is clear the only reason she's involved in this at all from a storyline standpoint is to convince marks that she is the Alpha Feminist that is changing the company's gender practices. It's insulting and embarrassing, but that's the bubble she was raised in, so I guess she has every right to carve out whatever narrative she wants to. As long as people are smart enough to see through it.

As long as people are smart enough to see through it. Pretty much. It's to create this aura that if anybody tries an AJ Lee again, or if anybody criticizes Steph for her constant putdowns with no comeback of EVERYBODY, or hogging spotlight, then they must be anti-feminism because look how good a feminist role model Stephanie is for doing this for Divas! If you hate Steph you hate feminism! When no. I'm a feminist, I'm glad the NXT Women are called up, I'm glad they might finally be giving them a real chance, I just hate how she has to insert herself into it to claim the credit. If she really was that in favour of it, she would push for it behind the scenes and might give an introductory speech ala Bret with Sami Zayn....but she wouldn't stamp herself all over the Bellas, the NXT girls, and everyone else on the roster. It's the reason people dislike Bono despite all his charity work, whereas Jon Bon Jovi is also an enormous philanthropist but is respected. Because he does it quietly. Steph brags, or humblebrags, and it just comes off like she's really focused on her own image & reputation, rather than actually caring about the Divas. Whereas AJ, even if I wasn't always a fan of her as a performer, seemed to genuinely be caring about it, not just for her own sake. Least that's the vibe I get from it all.

As long as people are smart enough to see through it. I hope people remember that she isn't someone recently promoted to a position where she could help female wrestlers, Stephanie was made director of creative writing in 2002 and her tenure saw the creation of the Diva Search, Stephanie calling Molly Holly fat on air and the company trying to make that a thing, the whole Piggy James bullying angle, talented workers like Gail Kim being told not to have good matches, barely trained models getting more of a push than women who worked their whole adult lives to become a talent the WWE would want, the whole Lita 'ho sale' deal and many other horrible things she could have vetoed but didn't. The only times I think she's ever really struck a blow for equality are the times her major changes made things considerably worse for everyone regardless of gender, like when they began hiring only failed TV writers, scripting everything to death and so on.

WWE's insistence on making PR part of their actual show never leads to good things.

My biggest gripe so far with this is why Sasha's awesome entrance theme was bumped two night's in a row for Naomi's god awful entrance theme. Because they're not bumping what remains of the existing Divas roster overnight. Not saying I like it, but the premise is, at least now, Team Paige w/ Charlotte, Becky v Team Naomi w/ Sasha v Team Bella. If I'm being honest, I hope the teams naturally dissolve. But if I keep getting solid matches, I can't complain.

I like tumblr because it's one of the few places I can be in like company, able to engage with other folk who also have Stephanie McMahon and a coffee table as headmates.

To call this angle empowering to women is insulting. The only person who comes off as strong is Stephanie. She's the one who picked out the divas and placed them into their little groups to let them all play, none of these women have been promoted as being unique, or in control of their own destiny because of it. The right way to get to this point would have been Paige recruiting Becky and Charlotte herself since she already had the ties to NXT, and have Sasha follow, because she felt snubbed since she was overlooked despite being the champion of the brand. That way the alliances can actually feel genuine, and these women aren't just teacher's favourites she picked out for group play.
Imagine if Owens had been introduced the same way. Imagine if Triple H brought out Owens to face Cena because the champ couldn't get anyone else to fight him. How much less effective would his debut have been? This is exactly the same, and proves that despite all the good NXT has done with their women, the main brand still gives no shits about making them appear in a similar light. Nah, they're still all just crazy broads who need a McMahon to reign them in. It's gross.

Please, you do not want to get the table on your case. TABLE! I'm always happy when Stephanie and table can get along. #kin #stephkin #tablekin #teamstephtable

Thanks Steph for hopping on a bandwagon set in motion by people who have actually used their position of influence to speak out about the issues facing women, after spending 15+ years as the third most powerful person in the WWE and doing absolutely nothing to help female wrestlers in that time. I am sure their pushes will continue after you've found another cause to glom on to in 6 months time. By then, she may be too busy trying to convince people she'd have in chance in hell against Ronda Rousey to care about the fate of the women's division.

Yes Stephanie is a true champion of Women's rights.
And then she created new teams and put the black girl with the other black girls and the two white girls with the only white girl.
Seems a bit....you know....

Hey now, who do you think she'll be making tap out on the way to her big WrestleMania match with Ronda? Fortunately for them, she's like the Undertaker, being in the ring with her is enough of a rub that it doesn't matter if they win or lose, or even if they look good. It won't be her fault if they don't capitalise on the momentum they gained from being run down on the mic then tapping out cleanly to her in the middle of the ring.

She can't get AJ, so get the one who was in the tag match with her at last year's Mania. Guilty by association. :-)

I just absolutely despise Stephanie's character. She is awful and never can be one-upped. A very insecure person and it doesn't seem like much of an act to me lol. I don't get how this woman could get shut down on a weekly basis back in the day, but is incapable of such today. Is it because she has children now, because that's a lame ass excuse.
