I know a lot of it has to do with the mad man in their headsets constantly feeding them lines, but these guys annoy me for different reasons. Cole I have grown to tolerate to occasionally like, but he has his moments where he is insufferable. JBL and Lawler also go back and forth for me. Sometimes I really like them, but when they are bad, they are completely infuriating such as Lawler in his Cena cheerleader mode or JBL when he gets it on his agenda to just cut down some struggling new talent.
Booker T when he does announce is just mostly indecipherable and he is a gaff machine "Owen Hart didn't defy gravity..."
I think my vote goes to Saxton though. He has the vocal/emotional range of Siri giving GPS instructions.

JBL's nowhere near as bad as King's been the past 7 years or so. He just hasn't cared in a very, very long time.

A lot of the announcers are bad, but JBL is just a total assault on the eardrums, and actively detrimental to anything he commentates. And his obnoxiousness seems something all of his own, different from the usual obnoxiousness that comes from the other commentators with that Vince flavour, so I don't think he's capable of a Beast In The East style success.

I've missed a month or so of WWE but the last time I watched Raw, JBL called Roman Reigns a 'HOTHEAD' about 50 times and that is basically my only enduring memory of the show. I don't remember where it was, who wrestled, how it ended, but I do remember that every time Roman Reigns showed up on screen JBL said something along the lines of 'WHAT DOES THAT HOT HEAD WANT?'

It's a tough question.
Michael Cole's lack of sincerity and laundry list, buzzword-laden way of describing the action makes it all seem so pointless. Most of this is on the direction, but he's the one saying it, so it falls on him.
JBL at least sounds engaged in the product a lot of the time, it just comes off as the most obnoxious idiot in a bar yelling about football stats or something.
Lawler adds absolutely nothing to the product, but at least he's subdued and less offensive than JBL.
Hah, which is worst out of that? You call it, I can't.

Cole, King, and JBL are all bad for different reasons.
Cole sucks because he's basically the vessel for Vince McMahon to shill and spout buzzwords.
King sucks because he clearly doesn't care anymore.
JBL sucks because he seems to care a little too much, but he's just bad at his job. So he just shouts without knowing what to actually shout about.
Basically it's the perfect cocktail of ass.

JBL literally just sits there and shouts the same things every week about FLYING USOS and How FUN TO WATCH things are.
I can't believe anyone actually noticed Byron was there enough to actually vote for him.

He says so little of consequence (or anything at all really) that when I heard his voice this monday I legit asked, "Who the hell is on commentary?" I forget the man exists until a camera is on him. |

Even if you removed the terrible direction from the commentary booth, Lawler would still be unable to provide anything worthwhile to the show, and no matter how much JBL yells, any time they cut to the booth and I see a 65 year-old man wearing a shitty graphic tee he pulled off the rack of Wal-Mart just to not feel as old as he is, that's the bit that bothers me. He simply doesn't care, and while the others have potential that's being squandered from outside forces, he's doing this to himself.
