What a terrible thing to wake up too. The double edged sword of social media strikes again. This has nothing to do with social media though... Still a bit groggy. Meant the internet in general. It's fun...but it'd be nice to never know stuff like this. I don't care about him as a person, I just want to watch him wrestle.

What a terrible thing to wake up too. The double edged sword of social media strikes again. But this was revealed from places not associated with social media

And social media isn't operating through a hive mind here. People are using it to air out their thoughts, so really this is the double edged sword of reality.

I should really clarify the fact that I don't respect Hogan at all and agree with him being fired. He's a celebrity so his private conversation, even though speaking freely, is fair game if made public and that effects how the WWE image is treated.
But I think he is perfectly allowed to make as many racist jokes about Black basketball players as he wants. There is racism in terms of Hogan's comments or Kramer from Seinfeld melting down during his stand-up comedy routine, and then there is true ugly racism as in blacks being lynched for moving into a 'white' neighborhood or a dad threatening to shoot a black guy with a shotgun for datingbhis white daughter.
Hogan never intended his comments to become public. Yes he said it in private and perhaps honestly has a problem seeing Blacks as 'equal', but him checking himself, making a full apology for his remarks and subsequently being ostracized in the media for it are all signs that TODAY'S SOCIETY as a whole has moved far far past the 'dark history' everyone keeps bringing up when the n***** discussion always comes up.
My point is and always will be: using n***a in regular, everyday speech is not ignoring the past. Banning the word and making a public spectacle of it is ignoring the progression past it. Banning the Confederate flag is ignoring the past and our progression past it. Censorship is the very act of ignoring the past, I'm just very confused how more people don't agree with that when as I've already said living in the South race boundaries do not exist because of our free use of both n***a and the C. flag.
I can see many people will disagree with that stance so I'll just let this comment stand and speak for itself. New topic though-- how in the world was Hogan having a sextape out okay for years even though he was a family man role model hero??

To think, If the Hulkster was a mediocre backup wide receiver on the Philadelphia Eagles, all he'd have to do is take some "sensitivity" classes to keep his job. On the flip side being a huge name allows those to get away with a lot. It also makes a bigger call for action when they screw up to the point that it can't be ignored. Brad Johnson admitted to deflating balls, and nobody gave a f***. Tom Brady might have deflated some balls, and people lose their minds.

Hogan's obsession with who Brooke surrounds herself with and does in her daily life is really creepy.

Did I mention that Hulk Hogan should be given a free pass and this is all society's fault?

If he's that ardently racist, he's probably not gonna have changed his ways. It'd be like saying "Well, the Grand Lizard was a racist when he was in charge of the KKK all those years ago, but hey, who cares, it's been a while!"

The Warrior flat out said that gay people are not as legitimate as heterosexuals, so if Hogan is taken out of the HOF, then it would be hypocritical of the WWE (what a shock!) to keep UW in as well. It will open up pandora's box big time.
I'm a lifelong Hulkamaniac, but I've been on the receiving end of racism enough times to not tolerate that BS. This won't erase my childhood memories of watching wrestling, but definitely changes my opinion of the man. Not that my opinion of Terry Bollea means anything to begin with.

Look. You can think whatever you want about Hogan the person, but without Hogan the wrestler there might not be a WWE today. He didn't kill anyone, he doesn't deserve to be Benoit'ed. Should he apologize? Of course. Should he be reprimanded? Sure, but he is the most famous wrestler of all time. You'll never be able to erase him. Everyone makes mistakes..hopefully he can learn from this. So cause he wrassle good, we should make excuses and talk about how we're big fans? Nah, I'm straight. Go make a Hogan appreciation thread, cause this isn't the place.

Again I'll say that I agree with your stance on the use of the n-word. But Hogan is not a comedian making a "fried chicken, watermelon, cornbread, and Red Kool-Aid" joke. He flat out said he was a racist.

Hogan's obsession with who Brooke surrounds herself with and does in her daily life is really creepy. Yeah. To be honest, that might have been weirder than the whole racism thing. I've heard people calling other people n*****s before, and I'll hear it many times in the future. It's a thing that happens. But Hulk talking about his daughter right after he has sex (or during, haven't watched the video and have no plans to do so) is legitimately kinda weird.

Eight years wasn't a very long time ago. If you were racist then, chances are you're still racist now. I don't think progressive thinking is something a racist experiences much.
