Finally, I get some recognition. I've been typesetting books, uncredited, for about a year now for our company. Started off just changing things on files sent from other companies, and have slowly graduated to being good enough to do them from scratch.
And... I'm getting to put my name in a couple of books, on the imprint page. I could've done it earlier, but I didn't feel that just rejigging someone else's work was worthy of crediting myself. But next year, so far, my name is going to be on Cruel Poetry, by Vicki Hendricks, and Greed, by Nobel Prize-Winner Elfriede Jelinek! And the Hendricks book will be out in the US as well, which is amazing.
So... question is... on the imprint page, do I put typeset by Martin Worthington, or typeset by The Golden Spike?

Whichever will be the most meaningful for you.

Yes, putting Jardu Cenesh would totally rule... but I think it's gonna be The Golden Spike

Well, in all seriousness, if it's something that'd be used as a portfolio/resume addition, then definitely Martin Worthington (a name fitting a former King)... but if not, definitely Golden Spike

Well, I'm considering freelancing as Golden Spike typesetting services, so that's my reasoning.

My vote would be for Jardu.
*Edit* - you posted before me! BLAH! If you wanna do that, go ahead.
And btw - ULTRA COOL! You rock.

I'd wait to become reasonably "well-known" in the typesetting world before adopting a pseudonymous. Or go for "the Golden Spike" from the get-go, hoping nobody tries to steal your name

What does a typesetter do? I'd go with your real name unless typesetter is code for Writer/Producer - The Simple Life.

A typesetting turns a basic manuscript into a book - takes the text, sets it out to make it more readable, choose the fonts, makes sure it comes out at the right length, etc. It can be boring or interesting, depending on the job in hand.

So, with all of the work you're doing, do you end up reading a good portion of the book? and question 2, do you feel special?

Yeah, I get the general gist of the books... I mean, I've generally read them anyway when they come in to the company, and I tend to mark them up before setting them, so I know if there is anything particularly different about any sections.
And yes... I'm very special.

Trust this advice. Go for the best of both.
TYPESET BY THE GOLDEN WORTHINGTON!
Also, since your last name is Worthington, are you related to Archangel? Y'know, the X-Man?
