Alright, another angry venting post. Sorry about these folks but..
First some background. I got into the group via a guy I knew from a play I was directing. He was a DM looking to form a group so he made it out of most the play people plus a couple others. It went well at first but as the play went on I had some...issues that came up and that not only affected the relationship with my cast but also how I played in the game. It was unintentional for my part but I still ended up hurting feelings, and after the play had run it's coarse I was filled with negativity, frustration, and guilt over what I had done (this was the same time I was diagnosed with depression). Not wanting my attitude to ruin things further I told the DnD group that I would be taking a hiatus, I was in a bad place and didn't know how long I would be gone but still only suspected it would be a couple weeks.
A few days later I was talking to one of my friends who was also in the group and told her I'd probably come back for the next session as I was in a better state of mind by that point. She told me that the DM had already killed off my character. Right out the blue without asking me how long I would be gone, or even warning me that he would do this. I contacted him a couple days ago and he said it was to late to rejoin because I didn't "jive well" with everybody (which is again, something I wasn't told about). So now I'm out of the group, I have useless handbook and I'm pissed off at how the situation played out.
So yeah. That's that.

What's a DM? Defining Moments? Dungeon Master. They're the lead of the Dungeons and Dragons group.

It's a shame that some of the most dedicated players lack the social skills required to have given you the slightest courtesy of talking to you about the issues at hand.

I've luckily never had group drama. Worst that ever happened was a former DM getting annoyed I'd sometimes not pay much attention during skype games, but frankly at that point, the game had become a very low priority for me, due in part to a very annoying player.

Look, I understand if they wanted you out even if you had a legit reason for the hiatus. But doing it in such a shady way is what trumps everything. I haven't played DnD in years, but if I was at all invested in a campaign and the DM killed my character without telling me, I would be heated.
Sorry this happened to you, bro.

You should try joining the Submission Sorority. Paige can be your Dungeon Mistress.

What did you do to them during the play? They may not be totally in the wrong here if you were being a douche nag because you were having personal issues I wouldn't blame them. I play D&D and the most annoying and game ruining thing is a negative party member, they completely drain all fun out of the game...
Now I'm not saying you are a dbag, just that if you were id do the same thing, just would have been more straight forward about it then your party seems to be.

I don't know about Dungeons and Dragons, but can't you just form your own group, conquer all the others and declare a Dark Reich of Destruction over them?

My directing got a bit controlling and mean, it was unintentional on my part but I just got so focused on putting on a great show that I kinda overlooked that important part about being a nicer person. In fact the reason for my hiatus was so I could give us all a week or two to cool off, work out my issues with the people and then come back with a fresh attitude and desire to play. Thus not allowing my negativity to affect the group.

don't worry about it, we'll form our own D&D group, with blackjack, and hookers!

Tell him it's okay, because you're too busy actually getting laid than to worry about some silly game.

Thus not allowing my negativity to affect the group. Well as a director myself (weird how we mirror each other) I can understand those frustrations. But story seems to be you weren't as nice as you should have been, took time off to recharge and in that time they kicked you out. Probably some communication issues on both sides of this. I've kicked people out for being dicks, but not in that manner. They should have been a little more clear that they weren't comfortable playing with you, that's were they are wrong. But honestly I can't fault them for wanting to push you away if they were uncomfortable playing with you after these instances of you not being so nice. If you apologized and they still wouldn't have you back, just find another party or start one yourself. As a director you'd probably rock as a dm.

I have no clue how D & D works, but they sound like a bunch of neckbeards who can't function normally. You should just form your own group.

my group actually did that to a guy once, but he and our DM had a lot of underlying issues. it felt like a dick move when it happened and it's not usually something I would do either. sorry it ended that way for you.

Show up anyway and start playing like you never left. When he says you died tell him you want your saving throw. When he hands you the dice toss them down the garbage disposal, turn it on and walk out the door.
