I have been looking at some board games for the approaching autumn season and was narrowing it down to two: Eldritch Horror or Decent: Journeys in the DarkHas anyone one played either of these and if so which is better? Or is there something else I should be checking out instead?

Those are two very different games that are both quite good.
Descent is basically like playing a hack and slash RPG campaign, as a board game.
Eldritch Horror is a simplified Arkham Horror, and a cooperative players vs board game.
So, really, it's about which of those appeals to you.
And if you really like the idea of Descent, there's a Star Wars themed game of the same time called Imperial Assault.

Really, out of those, pick whichever one's theme is most exciting to you and your friends.

I'm totally kidding, Key to the Kingdom sucks.
