Tomorrow marks one year since we heard about the tragic news. In this past year, it felt strange everytime I put on my favorite films like Aladdin and Good Will Hunting knowing Robin may had been suffering while doing these films. I remember my sister and me walking out of Night at the Museum 3 with tears in our eyes after hearing Robin's last words on screen. Growing up watching his films made the news last year more devastating than any other celebrity death. It was hard for me to watch his more serious films because he was always the guy who made me laugh and smile.
While his passing did bring to light how devastating depression is and how we cannot keep it to ourselves, I wished his own life was spared of that pain and the smile he had on stage was constant off the stage and in his heart.

I honestly didn't know the anniversary was coming up, but on Friday I just wanted to watch something with Robin Williams in it that I already hadn't, and the only film on Netflix that fit that was World's Greatest Dad, which, whoo boy that's a hard film to watch now.
If you don't know what that film is about it is about an aspiring author and poetry teacher(played by Robin Williams) who after finding his son died from an embarrassing accident, he stages it to look like his son committed suicide and ghost wrote a suicide note for him. And.....yeah......really tough to watch that film in light of the details around Robin's death.

Lot of Robin Williams movies are hard to watch now since many of his films deal with themes of suicide. I still can't believe that was only a year ago, like damn time went by really fast this year.

I didn't think a celebrity death could hurt more than losing Michael Jackson. His songs spoke for me.
Then we lost Robin, and I lost my laughter.
I dunno what rings more in my ears more, Oh Captain, my Captain or the closing lines of Aladdin:
"I'm gonna miss you, Genie."
"Me too, Al. No matter what anyone says... you'll always be a prince in my book."

One of my favorite Robin Williams performances was his appearance on Louie a few seasons back. It was just the right mixture of dark yet hilarious.

A year already? My God, time flies. I remember reading the news and being shocked, as was everybody else, but it really didn't hit me hard until I got to thinking about how much of my childhood was defined by Williams' films... then the tears came. I can't believe he's been gone for a year already - the world lost a truly special talent that day. RIP Robin.

He was just okay, not really a fan, and didn't think he was that great. But I loved his performance in 'Best of Times' with Kurt Russell. One of my favorite '80s movies.
