What do you guys think of the recent comments by Connor and Ronda talking about they would beat Mayweather in a all out no rules kind of brawl. Is this a case of them trying to get some of his shine or them just talking because he's a boxer and they are MMA fighters.
I will say this, I don't think they should sleep on boxers as they are trained fighters as well but it's interesting to see the comments being said as of late. If anything it will garner some discussion as we are doing now.

Who cares what you could do in a no rules brawl. Here's how a real fight goes down.
Boxing rules, Mayweather wins easily.
MMA rules, Mayweather gets crushed.
And it's never going to happen, so now it's MMA fighters trying to get some shine and attention from the highest paid/most important prize fighter on the planet.

Mayweather vs. Cro Cop.
Actually, that's a bad idea. I don't think the FCC would appreciate seeing a man decapitated by a kick.

Floyd is so far out of any MMA fighters league in terms of $$$ it's not funny.
It's like a truck driver saying he could beat a NASCAR driver in a foot race.

It's apples and orangs. It's not even really got to do with Floyd being a "defense first" fighter (or backpedaler, whatever). We learned all those years ago when somebody thought a good gimmick would be to take Milo Savage and toss him in with Gene LeBell. The thought was "Nobody can beat a boxer, they're just too strong", and yet LeBell destroyed Savage.
You keep the boxing rules, and it's a decision unless the MMA fighter has a background in stand up fighting and is able to close the gap. You let it be MMA rules, and Mayweather gets mauled because his bread and butter is completely neutralized.

No matter how well a trained fighter a boxer is, or how good they are, the fact they can only punch- no grappling or even kicking- means that they're doomed in an MMA fight. Not only would Conor or Ronda destroy Mayweather- any MMA fighter who can get to the level of "they can actually get out of their dojo and have even a semi-pro MMA match" would probably beat Mayweather.

It's funny that a lot of the MMA people bring his name up as far as comparison goes but it's actually funny and sad at the same time Mayweather makes more money in one fight than the combined payout of UFC cards over a 6 month period.

Apples and oranges, as has been said. Don't like Mayweather and, yes, he would get destroyed in a world with submissions and takedowns. In terms of stand-up? No one in his weight class in MMA could take him. If he's making people look silly in boxing in terms of speed and precision, then he'd make people look doubly bad in MMA at his weight class, in terms of stand-up.

A "real life" fight most boxers would lose to an MMA fighter unless they could knock out the guy right from the get go, I think a lot of people hold this opinion though so its not really noteworthy.
So? Is Floyd going to pay them off or something? Throw gold bricks at them? He is the king of being the most overpaid human alive right now. Good for him, I respect his business acumen. I would do the same thing if I could. I'll just leave it at that.

They are undoubtedly just trying to get attention as his retirement fight looms over. Everyone knows you take a boxer and put him in mma they would get taken down in a heartbeat, but the same could be said with a mixed martial artists putting on 8 oz. gloves.
Wasn't this settled when Couture beat Toney?

Wasn't this settled when Couture beat Toney? Eh, it happened but Toney didn't take the fight seriously. He was heavy and didn't know even the fundamentals of submissions. No way he could fend off even rudimentary submissions. Not saying the results would be different but having a boxer in his prime, in better shape, who actually spent time learning about mma would be far more interesting. Don't think the results would be much different (and he was fighting Couture no less), but that would be more conclusive. The Toney fight was just a spectacle.

Who cares what you could do in a no rules brawl. Here's how a real fight goes down. Boxing rules, Mayweather wins easily. MMA rules, Mayweather gets crushed. Brawl For All rules, Mayweather pulls his hamstring Triple Cage rules, Mayweather falls off cage Hardcore Junkyard Invitational rules, no one can see a damned thing Either way, it all sounds boring and uninteresting.

It'll never happen because there's no way Mayweather ever fights anyone ranked within the top 3 of any division.

Mike Tyson in his prime would have a better shot at a straight up MMA fight than Mayweather

I find it so corny and stupid. It's like LeBron calling out Tom Brady by saying he'd dunk on his ass to prove Tom's not that great of a QB. HEH?!?!

I wouldn't the surprised if Dana and Lorenzo were putting the big names like Ronda and Conor up to it, gets them easy attention. It's pretty corny.

Its all bullshit as both RR and Connor are trying to get themselves publicity as calling out someone like Mayweather will get the TMZs of the world interested.
Though this whole Boxing vs MMA argument is stupid.
