I don't know how I could be so bad at a game.
I'm getting my ass kicked up and down the street.

It's a Souls Game, get used to it.
You can either play it, or you can't... if you can't, don't torture yourself and just move on down the line. People who can play them are freaks of nature and it's best not to gaze upon them too long, for it's only longing for a future that will never be for you.

I see the game for 17 bucks, say to myself, 'how hard could it really be?'

I was awful for weeks. I could not get past Father G. Then one day, I don't know what happened or how it happened, I beat Father G. The rest of the game came relatively easy to me. And after I got good, it was probably the most rewarding feeling game I had ever beat!
Patience. Get to know your weapon. Become an expert at dodging. Get the blunderbuss and shoot for staggers/visceral attacks. Don't ever spam anything...attacking, shooting, dodging spamming = death.

I would say I'm pretty good at Bloodborne, yet I cannot crack Souls... I'm still beyond terrible at those games. I though after Bloodborne, I would be able to play Dark Souls, so I got the PS4 remake... NOPE. Still slaughtered by every moving creature and feel as awful and helpless and frustrated as ever. Completely different feel to the games.

Bloodbourne is way easier than Souls. Hell, BB isn't hard exactly, you just have to be patient and play within the game systems. Unlike a lot of games, you are truly punished for failure. Be calm, proceed methodically, and take it easy. You can get better.

Also, find shortcuts and run loops multiple times.

I played the game like four or five times, I didn't even get to the sewer and probably died hundreds of times using the saw cleaver. Then I restarted the game, picked the threaded cane and went through to just after the sewer without dying once. I haven't played the game since in rage.

Patience is seriously the most important thing. These games seem difficult but honestly, once you learn how to be patient and how everything works, they're only moderately challenging. Always make sure you have at least enough stamina to dodge or roll away, too. And never underestimate how useful both maneuvers are.

Thanks for the advice, guys.
I figured I had to go around fighting enemies to get blood echoes to level up, but I'm going to see how running like a bitch works out for me.
