Rapping has always been about bragging, and I was into it during the gangsta rap phase a bit, but what do they rap about mostly nowadays?

I dunno. But when I rap with people, I usually turn around my chair and lean forward against the backrest.

In mainstream? It's still bragging. Or love, or pursuing respect. Or feelings.
Or dancing.
Pretty much the same as any other genre.

Nothing.
Most of their life experience has been spent listening to rap.

Black social issues, drugs, still a lot of bragging, other rappers, references to events in their own life and previous careers (particularly if they're now more successful than they have been for a while), women, sex.

All the money they have and girls they bang. Or if they're female how big their ass is.

Nothing. Most of their life experience has been spent listening to rap. This. It's pretty much just clubs, money and women.

I knew you were gonna get people in this thread who don't know what they're talking about. The internet is too predictable sometimes.

Here's an example.
"I had forty two bitches! (bitches!)
And I found out that they were all snitches! (snitches!)
So when they went to give me head, (head!)
I filled them all with lead! (lead!)"

Nothing. Most of their life experience has been spent listening to rap. This. It's pretty much just clubs, money and women. If you're looking at it through the lens of radio and club rap, sure. But even then Kendrick Lamar and Run the Jewels poke a hole in that. There's good rap about real shit, you just have to pay attention.

Hell I barely know much about rap well a bit more than a casual but I could probably safely tell you it isn't just money, clubs, and hoes. Hell even if I didn't know anything about modern rap I could probably predict rap genre has expanded as much as the rock genre did in a 30+ year period. Plus even if I didn't know who Macklemore or Drake was, one look at them and I would be like f***ing hipster, f***ing soft emo kid, I doubt these f***ers are gangsta as f*** so I would know rap has changed and expanded
