The peak of the knockouts division roughly late 2007 too the beginning of 2010 ( although there were plenty of rough periods this time as well) was seen as a high point in women's wrestling with the Gail vs Kong feud being the centerpiece. Now what I'm wondering is how that division compares to the current NXT women's division , do you guys feel that it was of the same quality as the NXT division?
Honestly I don't think it was . While the Gail vs Kong matches were good nonie of them were even close to being considered match of the year caliber . Also outside of the way too short late 2009 period of the KO"S division with Hamada , Taylor, Sarita, Kong, and Melissa the KO's matches were never really as technical or innovative . I Overall if TNA had focused on pushing the likes of Hamada , Sarita, and Mleissa I think the KO's of the division of the past could have been seen as on the same letter as or even better than the NXT women , but seeing as how they didn't it isn't really close.

I'd say they were about equal, maybe with the Knockouts lagging a BIT behind. Plus, overall, the impact of the NXT divas is going to be much greater than the TNA Knockouts, because they're younger, and are going to get more time to shine in the long run, to say nothing of having a bigger platform to shine on.

Even the harshest of critics had nothing but praise for The Knockouts. All of them had characters and roles they could do.
The moment they decided to make it focus on The Beautiful People, who represented everything the Division was suppose to stand against, was the beginning of its decline into the mess it is today

The KO's division was more revolutionary at the time because you didn't see women taken that seriously on any other American mainstream promotion. It was so different and felt like a big deal, even though you had stinkers like Angelina Love and Velvet Sky taking up a lot of the spotlight.
The NXT women are the best ever seen in mainstream wrestling. They had a 5 star match just a day ago. They're truly the cream of the crop.

As a whole, I think the NXT Women are better.
But I don't think any one person on either roster had as much aura as Awesome Kong did in 2008.

I'd say about equal, this "revolution" thing with WWE is for WWE, the Knockouts and companies like WSU/Shimmer/Shine have been doing it for years. Its just WWE being all hipster and saying they're the first etc.

Bayley vs Sasha was probably the best Women Match in Pro-Wrestling history, it makes the Kong/Gail matches from 2008 look like dark matches.

The NXT women are better in the ring overall, while having pretty good characters and storylines.
The Knockouts were pretty good in the ring, but had better characters and storylines overall.
At least imo. So, roughly even, with your opinion being swayed based on whether you prefer in ring action or character stuff.
Sasha is the best of both worlds, so her being at the top of the NXT division probably tips the scales in NXT's favor for me. But both are/were tremendous, and I think its pretty close as to which is better.

Then you obviously haven't watched a lot of womens pro wrestling to consider that the best womens match in pro wrestling history. There are number that top it from over the years.

The highpoint of the Knockouts was when it was basically Shimmer. The lowpoint was when became the Beautiful People Show starring the Beautiful People and the rest. Right now, it is a dilapidated shell of itself.

I don't think any knockouts match was as good as the baeley/boss match.

There were flashes of it being just as good. Usually involving Sarita, Taylor Wilde, or Hamada. The Knockouts had better depth at times as well. As great as the NXT stuff is, it's 4 of them that have done everything. The Knockouts had the aforementioned 3 along with Kong, Roxxi, ODB, Melissa, Daffney, and Tara, all at the same time.

I think NXT has had more great matches, but when it comes to overall emphasis on the division and diversity of characters and stuff, the golden age of the Knockoutswas better booked. Both are about equal though. I almost consider the initial KO division to be the start of what NXT picked up on, if that makes sense. That Florida crowd wanted their KO division back, and NXT filled that void.
