I was made Mod of the WWE section of a similar style forum to this one that had a couple hundred members, but one of the Admins came right out in the Mod only board and said that he didn't think I should be one (I was the only one he singled out, too). I never did anything wrong on the board and I was a pretty popular poster, but he didn't want me as mod and took it away about a week later, without even discussing it with the Admin that give me the title.
I don't even really know why I was given the WWE board position, since I frequented the Music board way more.

No prior experience, no other forums beforehand. You're really not qualified to run this forum, are you?

This is one of the few forums where I haven't been a moderator actually.

Been offered Mod spots on different forums and have always turned them down...I just cant be eff'd
But I have hosted Evony alliances in the past that had around 160 members...which was a pain in the ass as each member would get a bug up their butt about something stupid every other day! My last alliance is still active on server 192 named VALKYR1E.
And was a Lieutenant in a Star Wars TOR guild "Meatbags INC" We had almost 400 members at one point, but I keep having arguments with a higher up as I didn't recruit new members the way he wanted me too.

I have. A couple of men's issues and masculinity discussions sites, as it's a sphere I'm super interested in.
I could tell you some horror stories but I'll say this instead: There are basically two types of dude's into men's issues and thinking about what it means to be a man in 2015. There's the dude's who are in a really angry space because of issues in their personal lives and make every single issue that happens to them a problem caused by feminists and women and then there are dude's who realize that being a man means you're expected to be able to steer your own life, no matter what stupid nonsense excuses you create in your head. The internet's full of really angry, angry people and a lot of really, really unsatisfied dude's who have been told their problems don't matter because they have it as good as they could possibly have it their entire life. Some of those people, you're never going to be able to make settle down and have a conversation. They just want to vent. That can turn into hate fast.

I've mostly adminned because I was a rebellious teenager and those annoying message board rules were a little too strict for me on message boards my friends and I were trying to have fun at (Considered spam for some reason, dunno why ) so I'd go off and make my own forums for me and my friends, haha. It went ok for a few years but now I'm good with letting other people run the show. Guess that's what happens when you kinda sorta almost grow up.

You doing that on such a volatile topic is interesting. No really I love talking to admins and moderators for forums not from here. It's rare I find any with experience but I love getting outside ideas and seeing how others do and handle things.

I used to mod and admin a bunch of TFC and Counter Strike 1.6 servers back in the days when online gaming was a bit less of a cesspool. I also currently moderate another forum (one with significantly different rules, but one often targeted by trolls), but I basically only go on here and that one now. I'd love to be a mod here one day, but that seems unlikely I am perfectly happy just being a member.

I was a moderator and administrator of a sports forum that also had a wrestling section. I started modding the wrestling section before working my way up to helping admin the whole board. It was fun while it lasted, but one big admin couldn't afford the board anymore and the other big admin just wanted to try and merge with Bleacher Report. With their focuses on other things, the board went from super active to drifting off in the wind. It was sad.

I was an admin on a religious site that I used to post on. It kind of died. It wasn't too bad. Some crazies here and there. Mostly drama behind the scenes that got annoying.
I did mod work for an e-fed site. I met some good people there that I still talk to.

I was a mod for a few minutes on a forum that our very own Chuck Conry used to run that is, unfortunately, defunct. No really wild stories to share, just one member rage quitting the forum after I was announced as the new mod but he was a turd.

Back when I had WebTv they not only had access to Use-Net but there was also some boards that could only be accessed by those who used WebTV that were like Use-net boards. One option they had was the ability to create and run your own board. While there were several NASCAR boards there really was not one for other types of motorsports so I made one dedicated to this.
It was not as complex as this message board as stated it was more like Use-net than anything else. You could not edit posts, lock them, and since you only had one board you could not move them. You could however delete posts and ban people. For what it was worth it really was not much of a problem. One thing it was a small board but also one thing WebTV never really had a lot of were trolls and flaming that killed Use-Net. In fact one time on my board someone referenced that the CART Usenet board was filled with so much arguing and trolling that someone posted the race results as OT.
There was one time my phone was down and so I could not access the internet. When I got it fixed and got on my board I discovered there was a troll who was wreaking havoc. The others on the board were not feeding said troll, nonetheless I very quickly banned him. What was funny about a day later I got an e-mail from said troll that had the title How Mortifying and then did not understand why I banned him from the group. Obviously I ignored it and heard nothing else from him. I did keep the email for quite a while though.
I have also had a couple of other projects I wanted to do but never got them off the ground.

Moderated for Prowrestlingfans (PWF) back when it actually had life in it. Modded both the games section and the TNA section (this was 2004 - around 2006 so it was back when TNA was in its good period). Mod the people's brony forum even if it's really not active at the moment.

Modded some TFC servers back in the day. I've run probably around 50 Proboards thanks to running very complex mafia games, and those being the site's go-to way for the mafia to have out of game discussion as a group. I mod a subreddit dedicated entirely to making up a ridiculous backstory for one of my friends.

I'm a mod on Okcupid. It only works if I'm on the PC though so I don't do it often. I just get to look through flagged photos and decide if they should be removed or not. One cool thing is I see a lot of nudity and could send messages to those girls if I wanted to
