Daniel is a whiner throughout the movie, though.

Based on the part where he calls Miyagi a Demon Sorcerer, I think he may have been being facetious. I don't care. The trend of deconstructing every single thing a protagonist does still f***ing blows. One the one hand, I agree with you. Sometimes it totally does suck, especially when people stretch really hard to add something morbid or strange to something that was innocent. I hate gritty reboots for the same reason. On the other hand, I think that they're not all bad. It just shows a love for the story, characters, and whatnot if you look at something from different angles and try to find different perspectives. It can help you appreciate the overall narrative and legitimate interpretation a little better. I enjoyed this.

Daniel should have just called the police. It might have been easier than learning karate and fighting in a tournament.

Ralphie is the real villian in A Christmas Story. All Scut Farkus wants is a friend and even playfully tosses a snowball at Ralphie and what does Ralphie do. He brutally attacks Scut.

I used to entertain myself by winding up Star Wars fans by claiming Beru and Owen died in a tragic kitchen fire.
They would say "no, the Stormtroopers killed them!!!"
I would reply "did you see them do it?....no, so we can't be sure!"
Good days.

It's not as bad as the Cracked article that claims Sauron wasn't evil.

Sauron just wanted his ring back. Like that time I lost my yo-yo at school. I got it back. It had fallen on the floor and rolled under a desk.

It's not as bad as the Cracked article that claims Sauron wasn't evil. I mean, come on guys, we all want to kill and enslave the entire world and rule as a God-King. Let's not point any fingers here.

Shouldn't Daniel have been DQ'd in the final for kicking Johnny in the face?
In Karate Kid III, he says face contact is banned.

The trend of deconstructing every single thing a protagonist does still f***ing blows. I saw one a while back trying to spin The Joker as an anti-hero in The Dark Knight. At that point I realized people are desperate to do this.

Batman is pretty fascistic at times, so they could probably make a decent argument for that

The trend of deconstructing every single thing a protagonist does still f***ing blows. I kinda agree. Sometimes I wonder if people are incapable of enjoying a damn movie these days. The true villain of the first one was Kreese. He's the one that taught his students to have no compassion, no mercy, told Bobby to take out Daniel, and told Johnny to go after the injured leg. It was many years ago, but I used to do Karate. Leg sweeps are perfectly legal. It bugs me that people play up "sweep the leg" as some kind of cheating. Yeah, Daniel was hurt, but if you've got a tournament to win, you go for the f***ing leg. Shouldn't Daniel have been DQ'd in the final for kicking Johnny in the face? In Karate Kid III, he says face contact is banned. Rules are all over the place with the All-Valley tournaments it seems. Also, Terry Silver - White Ranger-era Tommy Oliver.

Yeah, Daniel was hurt, but if you've got a tournament to win, you go for the f***ing leg. Leg sweeps are fine, but the reason "sweep the leg" is so bad, is because it's the culmination of everything. Kreese had told them "No mercy", Miyagi even said "No such thing as bad student, only bad teacher.", he had ordered Bobby to take out Daniel, he didn't want Bobby to win fair, no he just wanted Daniel destroyed. A sweep is legal, but it's targeting an injury that he himself ordered, because he couldn't let his students fight Daniel in a fair fight, hence Johnny's horrified look when Kreese tells him to do it. It's legal, but Daniel's injured because their karate teacher basically ordered a hit on a teenager. At that point Daniel had earned the respect of the Cobra Kais.

My favourite guy in the franchise is that dude who fights Johnny in the semi final, from the Locust Karate Club or whatever it was called.
Even Johnny seems to respect him (another example of Johnny being a pretty decent guy when he's not being hassled by the evil LaRusso)

Really the true villain was Mr Terry Silver, CEO of DynaTOX Industries and Cobra Kai Dojos Incorporated. I agree, he was the absolute worst. Whoever played him couldn't act for shit.

Thomas Ian Griffith?
I loved that guy. He was hilarious.
That "wooden man" training technique was pure evil.

I image every time Ralph Macchio sees Emilio Estevez he runs up and kicks him in the nuts screaming Do You Know Who I Am?
