He was an icon to Texas Medicine but helped change medicine across the entire country. He was the one who helped create and push life flight servies for emergancy sitatuions. He was also one of the Doctors on call in November of 1963 when JFK got killed. Often seen as a grumpy but lovable guy, he was a true Texas and Medical Icon.

Sounds like a great man. Makes me wonder if my sister-in-law ever meet him since I do believe that she worked in Houston before going to work at a hospital in the Woodlands.

As a lifelong Texan, I remember him very well. I would see him on TV a lot when I lived in the Dallas area in the 80s/90s.

I remember seeing his segments on the news in the 80s. I didn't know about what all he had accomplished. R.I.P.
