Kinda curious about this. One of the things that attract me to some games is the immersion factor, where you feel like a part of the universe. Most of Bethesda's games I feel like this, especially Skyrim, where I felt like I was sucked into the action, like the world was real around me. I feel like it helps a lot with the storyline (and ignoring things like NPC's having the same voices and saying the same things over and over), and provides a fun ability to stretch your imagination. More than once I've created headcannoned storylines around how I interact with the preceedings, and have even gone so far as to, mentally at least, create vast backstories and origins for my characters. I've been playing a lot of DC Universe Online, and I find myself actively creating characters with origins, relationships with other characters, and the ties that bind themselves to one another.
So...how deep does your story go?

Very deep. On Skyrim for instance, I genuinely care about my two adopted daughters and ALWAYS bring them an apple when I come back from murdering mammoths.

I like roleplaying on a couple of MMO's like World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV. And to really get into character, it helps a lot to really dive headfirst into immersing yourself into the game world.

I take great pride too in my customised cars on GTA V. One time while driving back from the mod shop to my garage, some tosser hit me with his car, so I got out and shot him. I then drove back, fixed the damage and finally made it to my garage. No one messes with my cars or my motorbikes.

In the older games I would empty my bullets into them until they disappeared. I am aware I am a psychopath.

Very. Always have a backstory, even if I'm just messing around, I'll have a motive.
Hell, on Skyrim, I alternate between a summer-y mod & a winter-y mod depending on the real-life season, arm & attire myself differently if I'm going into battle, hunting or just adventuring.
Also, I go hunting every day I play, and try to bring at least 200 gold's worth of pelts, along with anything else I find adventuring, to sell in Whiterun before heading home to my family.
And I haven't even started the story yet! Installed a mod that doesn't begin it until you go to Helgen, I'm about 30 hours in, not been there yet. Do odd jobs for the companions, hunt, do any bounties that get posted. Nice little earner.
Oh, and with next-gen GTA, I sometimes like to just wander the streets in first person, catch the subway etc. Then I'll go for a nice drive along the highway.

Slightly ashamed to admit this but just a few days ago I barely got an hour of sleep because I was agonising so much over my impending draft picks on Madden. First world problems hey!

Depends on the game. If it's something I can truly enjoy, I'll play for hours on end. Though most of the time I don't put much effort into a lot of games

define immersed. I've had some where I sit down and play 4-, 5-, 6, even 7 or 8-hour sessions. But, I don't actually forget I'm playing a game, if that makes sense.

Always. I try to have a backstory, a set personality and hate doing anything or getting sucked into events that break character.
It's why I hated Mass Effect shoehorning that roided up guy on you. My Shepherd was notoriously unfriendly until you gained her trust... but we have Captain Steroid shoehorned in as Shepherd's best friend with them joking and laughing with each other in their first scene which my Shepherd didn't do.

I generally get like that in any open world style game. Hell, I started playing Skyrim for the first time ten days ago, and I've already put over 70 hours into it.

I like sports and mortal combat style fighting games. I think I'm too stupid for storytelling games nowadays I'll play and get stuck at some point not knowing what I'm suppossed to do next then eventually just stop playing. Picking up a PS4 Wednesday with Arkham Knight, Madden 16, and Injustice Gods Among Us so we'll see how I do on this gen.

On Red Dead Redemption I love to ride from my ranch to Mexico, enjoying the sunsets and the change in music. I also take immense pride in my hunting and trading abilities, and my serial killing technique (lasso them, put them on the horse, take them to the barn) when someone strays onto my property.

one night i got home about midnight and i popped in SSX 3. i got really into it and then noticed the sky looked weird. really weird for a night sky, like a bright orange. i went outside and saw the sun was coming up. i had been playing for 7 hours and never realized it.

On Top Spin, I have currently won 60 Grand Slams, which is only 4 short of equalling the real life record.
When I equal and surpass it, I will be legitimately happy.
