This result just shows how wrong Essendon got it during the whole supplements saga. Cronulla owned up and took their punishment.. few years later they are NRL champions.
Essendon prolonged it by crying innocence, trying to demonise the drug testing organisation that sprung them, and getting marks of the club in the media to say they are the victims of some conspiracy. And what happens to them several seasons in the spotlight, many top staff sacked, players suspended for a season, one player who might have won a Premiership this year suspended also, and a player that could possibly lose his Brownlow award.
Oh that stuff still would have happened if they owned up at the start. But seeing The Sharks glory, they would have recovered by now.. and Stewart Cameri may not have missed up in being in a history making Premiership winning side.

What a weekend of sport, with the two long-suffering punching bags of their respective leagues claiming ultimate victory... The Western Bulldogs on Saturday (from a 7th place ranking, which I'd assume has to be an AFL record) and the Cronulla Sharks tonight. Just unbelievable. Especially the NRL, which has seen this Hollywood ending happen three years in a row now, with South Sydney in 2014 (hi Sir Woodrow), North Queensland last year and Cronulla here. (Hell, I've got my stepdad watching the game in full AGAIN just to make sure it really happened and that the Sharks finally won the damn thing)

Brisbane Lions have appointed now former Hawthorn Football Manager Chris Fagan as their new head coach. Hawthorn has really become a coaching factory, haven't they Other News: Jesse Hogan has ended trade speculation by recommitting to the Melbourne Demons until the end of 2019. Now if only Melbourne can get St Kilda's Shane Savage to the club and have a new mega powers BREAKING: Rory Lobb ruckman from GWS has also committed to his club, choosing to stay at the Giants. Trade period is next week, I'll just post confirmed trades and not fill the thread with speculation.

Cronulla's win mean my Eels now have the longest premiership drought in the NRL & they are also the only Sydney team not to win a premiership this century I am happy that Cronulla beat Melbourne though because f*** the Storm.

Geelong defender Corey Enright has retired. He played 332 games for the Cats making his debut in 2001. He is a three-time premiership winning player and played in a fourth Grand Final.. And a SIX time All Australian player with his most recent being just this season.

Brent 'Boomer' Harvey has decided to retire. After North Melbourne told him they were not extending his contract, Harvey after considering playing on at another club, in the end, has decided to end his record-breaking career. The AFL (I don't think I need to add VFL now) games record now stands at 432. Will that break? Well, the nearest to that tally is currently 319 games held by both Shaun Burgoyne and Nick Riewoldt it will probably take 3 or 4 more seasons for them to reach it.. So Boomer's record is probably safe for the next decade or so. Well done to him... And with that there are no more players in the AFL that are older than me www.abc.net.au/news/2016-10-07/harvey-retires-from-afl-football-after-432-north-melbourne-games/7914778?section=sport

First move of AFL free agency. Hawthorn have got one of their targets with now ex Tiger Ty Vickery. Hawthorn offered Ty a two year deal and Richmond decided they did not want to match that. Richmond will be compensated with a 2nd round draft pick due playing expierence and age of Vickery. Ty is ruck forward combo player and the Hawks are hoping he can fill the Roughead void if is unable to return to the field.

Daniel Wells has signed on with Collingwood, apparently he is unhappy with the way North Melbourne handled the departure of the four veterans.
Also the big surprise is Bryce Gibbs requesting a trade from Carlton the Crows.

TRADE: Freo have traded their draft pick number 3 to GWS for Cam McCarthy draft pick #7 and a couple of other picks which the tweet below will explain. Fremantle might have actually done well here. Cause they get a potential gun player and still have a top 10 draft pick..

And the Essendon 34 have failed to have their already served bans overturned in a Swiss court. So their bans and record stand. Plus it looks like Jobe Watson will now be stripped of the 2012 Brownlow Medal (if so the joint runners up that year Trent Cotchin and Sam Mitchell will be likely named as 2012 Brownlow medalists)

Mitchell In, Mitchell Out?
Hawthorn and Sydney have reached a deal for getting Tom Mitchell to the Hawks. Hawthorn will trade pick 14 for the young swan. With more trade picks to be traded when the trade period is near its end (both clubs are waiting on other trades to see if they can get any sweeteners
Said I won't post speculation but the big news today is Hawthorn are pondering trading Sam Mitchell to the West Coast Eagles (for picks presumably, hear McGovern's name brought up but that's unlikely) . Sam says he is open to the trade. If it happens it's going to be like Steve Johnson at the Giants. Play for a season or two then move into coaching.
Update: Fremantle free agent Chris Mayne has signed with Collingwood on four year deal. Freo get compensated a second draft pick.

St Kilda get a Steele at the trade table:
Being a dead set Hawthorn supporter and paying member. What do I think of this sudden Jorden Lewis thing? Well, I don't know the full facts... But from what I hear Jordan cracked the sads when Clarkson told him he may not be given the captaincy next year and went to Melbourne with a trade offer. But the Hawks said no. We still need you and you're still under contract buddy. Disappointed by Lewis if true. Disappointed by the Hawks for covering it up.
BREAKING NEWS just as I posted the above:
It's sad to see Sam go. But I'm thankful for he has brought to the Hawks.. And I wish him the best of luck as West Coast as a player and as a coach further down the road.
Edit: just a quickie. The Tom Mitchell trade is official ..he is now a Hawk. Hawks get him from Sydney along with draft pick 57 for pick 14 and 54.

Yep, there has been some trades today... Pearce Hanley from Brisbane to Gold Coast. Bulldog premiership player Joel Hamling has gone to Fremantle.
And nothing else of note really.....
Oh nearly forgot.. Collingwood veteran Nathan Brown has left the Pies to go St Kilda as a free agent. Happened over the weekend nearly forgot about it...
And that should do it for... What? ... Oh very well. Sigh!
Jordan Lewis has been traded from Hawthorn to Melbourne. He was traded for draft picks. Tell you what.. Jaeger O'Meara better be god damn worth it... If the Hawks get him at all.

Trade period is over for 2016 in the AFL. Been a shit load of movement so I'll just list some key ones:
Jaeger O'Meara to Hawthorn Brett Deledio to GWS Zach Tuohey to Geelong James Stewart to Essendon Rhys Palmer to Carlton Travis Cloke to Western Bulldogs Josh Caddy to Richmond Dion Prestia to Richmond Koby Stevens to St Kilda Will Hoskin Elliot to Collingwood Lynden Dunn to Collingwood
And more check afl.com for all the deals .. the one move that didn't get done was Bryce Gibbs. He was seeking a trade to Adelaide but Carlton were not happy with what the Crows were offering and they could not work it out before the deadline. So Gibbs will stay at Carlton.

Why does a known drug cheat get to decide to hand back his medal? He should have been stripped as soon as they were banned.
It says everything about how tainted the medal was when Jobe doubled his career best and played all 22 games that year, both things that he never managed before or since.
