Cesaro did one, Harper did a version of it in Summerslam, and Bayley did one during her title match.

It is the best submission ever. Probably my favorite wrestling hold period.

I'm glad, it is too great of a submission hold not to use.
Of course Bryan's Yes Lock is pretty damn close too.

I remember shortly after the Benoit incident, everyone started doing the crossface, like they were trying to disassociate the move with him.

I remember shortly after the Benoit incident, everyone started doing the crossface, like they were trying to disassociate the move with him. Yeah it even got to the stage that The Great Khali used it! Personally I really like the idea of there being a handful of stock finishers that anybody can use, of course I'd actually have them end matches.

Piledriver seems right, but I can't think of anything else.

Triple H has used it quite a bit over the years. I always looked at it as a nod to Benoit the wrestler for some reason, but the disassociate thing sounds a lot more plausible.

Kevin Nash started finishing people with it in TNA at one point, for example, and by all accounts he has no problem doing any of his other finishers

It doesn't help that my mind automatically adds "Crippler" to the name. Every. Time.

What else would be in the universal finisher pool? Piledriver seems right, but I can't think of anything else. Not anymore as a match ender, but the DDT. Wrestlers have evolved. It used to be that nobody ever kicked out of a DDT. I'm pretty sure at least 90 percent of the ECW roster used it as a finisher. The other 10 percent could wrestle.

I remember shortly after the Benoit incident, everyone started doing the crossface, like they were trying to disassociate the move with him. I actually liked Michaels using it. He made it look pretty good, and it was a much better submission than that wonky figure four variation he tried to get over for a while.

It is a great submission.
Shame that it got tainted by...you know but it has been over 8 years at this point so I suppose it is about time for the move to make a comeback.

It's the least painful-looking submission hold after the STFU.

It's the least painful-looking submission hold after the STFU. I know it's not QUITE the same, but "Judo" Gene Lebell Would like a word.

True, that's a fair point, but I did get something of a dark chuckle out of both Micheals and Hunter using it as soon as the November after the Benoit murders. It was like a simultaneous "this move is too f**king good to go on the scrapheap. Murder or no murder."
