Exactly how in the Hell does Old Biff know how to use the time machine? Who cares? Now why don't you make like a tree....and get outta here? It's make like a tree and leave. You sound like a damn fool when you get it wrong.

A plot hole? In a time travel movie? Surely not!

I'm not trying to make excuses just because it's a classic film that I love, but pretty much any movie about time travel has plot holes when you think about it too much.

Shouldn' the almanach have either had incorrect outcomes after a while since the timeline changed so drastically, or just plain disappeared like Marty almost did in the first movie?

Awesome Butterfly Effect theory and the first I've ever heard that point brought up! My biggest gripe is how quickly Old Biff fades from existence [deleted scene] in 2015 upon returning from 1955. The theatrical version of the scene leads you to believe he collapses and has a heart attack on the curb. But he's instantly gone with it inferred that he was killed sometime between 1985 and 2015 in the new 'hell valley' timeline that he himself created. When Marty screws up his parents loving in love in 1955, his older siblings fade from existence first (in the photo) but it slowly takes place over a week's time before 'Calvin Klein' feels the affects. But on the other hand, we don't know how long Old Biff stayed in 1955 or if he did anything else after giving Teen Biff the almanac. Interesting to think about: what if Old Biff interacted with 'Calvin' in 1955?

The photo in the first one didn't disappear, it just reflected the new reality, same with the newspapers. I think if anything changed, the almanac would just change to have the new outcome, so it's still accurate.

While he was in the time machine, he went back one minute and watched himself using it, so he would know how to use it. Then he went back again to before he used it and used it, knowing how to use it from when he went back in time and watched himself use it.

I'd like to think Old Biff sat in a tree watching young Lorraine change in her bra and fapped happily ever after.

Nothing do with the exact topic of this thread but I've always felt Part II was the weakest of the trilogy. Too much of a rehash of the first one. Sequels should expand on the previous movie, which why I liked Part III a lot more.

Interesting to think about: what if Old Biff interacted with 'Calvin' in 1955? I think that was because old Biff went back to 2015 where he had been dead for years. I don't think he fades away until Marty and Doc take off which then cements the changed timeline. The thing with Marty is that his parents were supposed to be at that dance and could possibly still go while he was there. The closer it got, the slimmer the chances of them getting together which caused his brother and sister to fade away. When that one guy cut in, George was seen walking off. Marty started to fade away since it appeared that they weren't to get together.

my biggest gripe is why did they have to go back to that exact day if Biff didn't use the book until his 18th birthday? Why not just go back the next day and not have to deal with another Marty running around, some complicated school dance, and a huge storm?

They may have been better off just going back to 1955, planting a bomb under Biff's car, then detonating it while he's driving through the tunnel.

So he didn't really need to figure out too much
