RAW is live from the home of the King (though he's moved to SmackDown) - Memphis, TN, for what they're labelling as the SEASON PREMIERE of Monday Night RAW... even though it was on last week, and it's going against the first week of Monday Night Football. Will one of the hours dip below 3 million viewers?
There's two title matches tonight. The big one will result in a bit of WWE history either way. Nikki Bella has reigned over the Divas Division since Survivor Series 2014, and if she survives tonight's title defence against Charlotte, she will break AJ Lee's record of 295 days as champion, in which she claims she'll hold a Bellabration if she wins. And of course, Charlotte's out to become only the second woman to ever hold both the Divas Title and the NXT Women's Title (the first being her partner in PCB, Paige), and to deny Nikki her place in history by mere hours or minutes. Regardless, whoever wins will have to defend the title this Sunday at Night of Champions, so there's a possibility that even if Nikki breaks the record, the reign may not last that much longer.
The Tag Team Titles are also up for grabs tonight, as Big E and Kofi Kingston of The New Day defend against the Prime Time Players of Darren Young and Titus O'Neil. The Dudley Boyz will be watching closely, as Bubba Ray and D-Von are waiting for the winners at Night of Champions. Will they let this one play out, or will the Dudleyz have a say in the outcome?
Seth Rollins continues to have a lot on his plate heading into Sunday. Sting destroyed his statue, John Cena is looming large, and Sheamus is lurking with his Money in the Bank briefcase. As it stands, Rollins will defend the United States Title against Cena, and his WWE World Heavyweight Title against Sting, and he would have been coming into this with a losing streak, had it not been for Kevin Owens helping him defeat Ryback on SmackDown. What will Rollins do to gain the upper hand, and will he have to rely on ol' Hunter to help him out?
Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns are struggling to nail down a partner to help them take on the Wyatt Family. Merely for SPEAKING to them, Randy Orton was wiped out by Wyatt, Harper and Strowman last week on RAW, and on SmackDown, Ambrose introduced Jimmy Uso, only for him to be destroyed. The Wyatts say they'll continue to make sure they have the 3-on-2 advantage this Sunday, will the Shield brothers have their partner ready tonight?
Rusev (or Ru-Ru as he's now affectionately known) and "Hot Submissive Summer" are continually mocking Lana's broken wrist, and hamming up their relationship with each other, and Dolph Ziggler's pissed. Will Ziggler have to find a new female partner, or will this now be a one-on-one deal with Rusev?
All this and a lot more... and hopefully a little less Rollins... and hopefully nothing placed against any hot action in the football games, tonight on USA from 8/7c!
