Cam anyone let me know why WWE pretends tna doesn't exist? As far as I know, no mention has ever been made of tna or the mere concept that another wrestling group exists. They make sporadic acknowledgment of roh like with Daniel Bryans dvds. But there is to be no mention of tna or that wrestlers had a past there. Very apparent with the dudley boys return and acknowledgment of their past in ecw...japan...etc but I guess they've been sitting on their asses for ten years? Same with sting....
Why is this so important? In the past they've acknowledged wcw...ecw....smoky mountain. ...japan...nwa...
Why is tna so imaginary in current wwe?

Same reason Bellator and the UFC don't acknowledge one another. Competition.

Just by mentioning TNA you lose money by assocation, no matter how vague.
For example just the fact that I posted in this thread means that sometime in the next week a $10 bill is going to fall out of my pocket and I won't notice.

Why should they bother mentioning it? No reason to mention them at all

Austin has talked about TNA on WWE.com before. They used to be a regular feature in their news section as well. However, once they decided to become a nuisance and start suing WWE as well as became their biggest competitor (yeah I know, still true though) it became time to ignore their existence.

They're taking the Paul Anka approach of just not looking until they eventually go away. Problem is that they still had a base in Tennessee until Jarrett sold his stock, so it wasn't working.

ESPN won't say "There's Tom Brady getting ready for tonight's Monday Night Football matchup, a week ago you would have seen him on Fox NFL Sunday!"
There's no real reason to bring it up.
Yes I know that was a really shitty comparison, I'm tired. Sue me.

I don't think they out any effort into pretending they don't exist. They barely do.

TNA thrives on attention and WWE doesn't want to give it to them, because they are precisely the sort of scuzzy promotion that would let it get to their heads and never shut up. In business, there are certain strategic reasons to acknowledge your competition, and all of them require having some kind of benefit for the company doing the acknowledging. Old and defunct companies, especially ones WWE now owns, are obviously totally sensible because WWE owns them and why own them if you're going to disavow them? They needed ROH to paint a complete picture of Bryan and Punk's careers, and had a deal with them to put ROH footage onto the DVD, making it a deal mutually beneficial to both companies. WWE has been trying to establish good relations with Japanese promotions, and so of course they're willing to put over those companies former stars' time there.
By contrast, TNA has, very immaturely, repeatedly called WWE out, both on their show and open antagonizing in real life, has sued them for bullshit repeatedly, and just generally brings no benefits to TNA at all. It makes no business sense to give them a nod of any kind.

Wow! I really want to know why they published that to their website! It is amusing as the WWE have mentioned ROH a few times on air most famously with CM Punk's pipebomb promo and Matt Hardy's return attack on Edge where he shouted out he was going to ROH. Their website mentioned ROH a lot when talking about Punk and Bryan. Oddly Shimmer wrestling always talk about their wrestlers being signed by the WWE but despite almost the entire Knockouts Division being made up of Shimmer talent they have not once metioned TNA by name! They've mentioned ROH, Chikara, AAW and so many other companies so the exlusion of TNA is odd and hilarious. They even talk about "rival" female only shows like Shine and Femme Fatales, yet still not TNA! Maybe all the wrestling companies had a meeting and decided "F*** TNA!"

You never want the competition to be brought up during any time whether it's good or bad news because someone, even if it's 1 out of a million people, someone will find a way to give the competition some exposure, money or even talk about them. It's the same way with any business whether it's a department store, talk shows or even music.
Why do you think Jay-Z rarely acknowledges the people he beefs with? He wants to hurt them the best way he knows how and that's by not responding to them because it damages their pockets. Any exposure he gives them is giving them more money.

A while back WWE tried to out dirt sheet the dirt sheets in an attempt to shut the down, republishing news and results from various sites. You can search several companies and wrestlers on WWE.com, go back 5 or 6 years and you'll find results. Like: www.wwe.com/inside/industrynews/6913762or www.wwe.com/inside/industrynews/7461072

I don't think they work that hard to pretend TNA doesn't exist. Would be fun it that were true, but haven't WWE wrestlers been punished for attending TNA shows, stuff like that? I'd guess it's a very conscious decision on WWE (Vince)'s part, even if it doesn't make sense or seem significant to us.
