... the weather calls for a downpour the night of the game you bought tickets for a while back and have anticipated going to said game? Mets tickets for Friday and it doesn't look good weather wise. Nice tickets too. at least football doesn't get canceled usually. Hockey and Basketball have snow ins I guess

Try being a cricket fan during an English "Summer".
About half of the time I go to watch cricket is spent looking at an empty field and waiting for the rain to stop so play can resume.

You already had Mets tickets, inclement weather is the least of your problems

I won plane & game tickets in 1994 to see the White Sox in Cleveland. Inclement weather hell, I was praying they wouldn't go on strike before I can see it. (I went, Sox won 4-2.) A neighbor of mine had Cubs tickets for late-August. He wasn't as lucky.
The next year, I pre-purchased bleacher seats at Wrigley Field, expecting the season to go on as planned. Wouldn't you know, after they remade the schedule (started later that April), the game I had tickets for turned into an off-day. I still have those pair of tickets, never cashed them in. The price? $3.50 a piece.
