If you think constant reruns of Law and Order is bad, try being a Cartoon Network viewer. ENDLESS RERUNS of Teen Titans Go in blocks that go over 5 hours! As for ABC Family's name change, does this mean theyre going to drop all pretense of being a family network? No more romantic comedy promos for Batman films?

It makes it sound like an FM rock station from decades ago. A decade? Well that's pushing it....oh wait, there actually WERE channels with such names in 2005! How dare I forget the Jack/Free/revolving 102.7 door crisis in NYC? I remember WCBS FM changed back from Jack-FM the day after the Sopranos finale and the first song played was Journey's Don't Stop Belivin

I remember in the mid 90's, CBN Family Channel would air Carol Burnett Show reruns and Three Stooges late at night. The Fox Family switch had Pee Wee's Playhouse, Real Ghostbusters, Mr. Bill and Bobby's World. They seemed to have vanished after ABC/Disney took over

Are they bring back that sitcom with that bodybuilder Jake? Yes, Big Brother Jake needs to come back. I'll make a petition.

Discovery America would air Law and Order if there was a new Law and Order: BBQ Pit Judge version. Destination America would air Law and Order: Sasquatch Victims Unit.

Either way, hopefully Ice T is still there, confused and needs things explained to him. "Wait, you're telling me Squatch is called Big Foot, because his feet are big?"

"Wait, you're telling me Squatch is called Big Foot, because his feet are big?" Episode plots will always veer to a ripped from the headlines approach. It wasn't Sasquatch who mauled those campers, it was Paula Deen.

Do people really give a shit what a channel is called anymore? I just watch what I like on whatever channel it comes on. I didn't think people, especially these young people they are targeting, still sat in front of the TV mindlessly watching whatever was on these days. For example, I have no idea what El Rey shows aside from Lucha Underground, or what AMC shows aside from Walking Dead. The only thing that matters is Robertson's clauses. It was first Sold from CBN because it was making too much money for the non profit organisation. Robertson himself owned it until 1997, and stipulated in his sale to Fox that "Family" needed to stay in the title or every deal they had with providers would drop and need to be renegotiated. They also couldn't get rid of 700 Club. This same roadblock stopped Disney remaking it into XYZ in 2005

This same roadblock stopped Disney remaking it into XYZ in 2005 Now I can see Saban and Fox adhering to Robertson's caveats, because they were buying the property directly from him (or I guess more specifically it'd be from CBN). But I don't understand why subsequent owners (in this case ABC/Disney) would have to adhere to this. I figured the more degrees of separation between the original owners and the current owners the less and less say said original owner (Robertson/CBN) would have.

The apparent story is Disney pretty much rubber stamped the contracts without looking at them properly. The wording was something like the show could not be cancelled or removed from the control of his production company without their permission, something a further change of owner would not invalidate

From what I can tell, Freeform was chosen as the name because it sounds like a name for a social media platform, which is popular among young adults. Its still stupid though, because this a network they're trying to run. I have a feeling that name will be changed at some point soon.
I assume they're calling it Freeform just so they can air episodes of Law And Order. Since that's what every network does now.
Every network? It's just USA and TNT, that's it.
And Sundance. And Syfy, for some bizarre reason. It's called exaggeration.

And that press release called the potential audience "becomers". Is that the new name for Millenials? (obligatory "Darn Becomers" line here) Any name is better than Millenials. I prefer the "Barney Generation" name but that never caught on.

At this point it seems like 95% of channels can easily go off-topic. It is refered to as Channel Rot. And has happened to most networks. Remember when AMC=American Movie Classics? Now AMC=Add More Commercials. I saw them once take a film that uncut without commercials ran 1 hour 22 minutes. And air in in a 3 hour slot. Over half of that 3 hours was commercials.

I personally call it the MTV Effect, as the network its named for has been infamously lambasted in the past for veering away from their original purpose of showing music videos and music-related shows.
