I'm not mad at the fact the story ended because, Rusev turning shit into gold aside, it was bloody awful. I'm mad at how it ended with WWE acting like their fans are too stupid to separate fact and fiction. They kept the storyline going for a while even though a lot of fans knew, but once it got to a certain level of exposure, I guess they felt that even marks wouldn't buy it. It's also possible Lana and Rusev just wanted to work together again, anyway, and this was a good stopping point.

I actually think Ziggler came out the best from this mess.
His internet cred has taken a hit, but that's about it. He's still over with live audiences and now he can move on without the stink of this storyline lingering on.
Meanwhile, Summer probably goes back to doing nothing and/or tries to get revenge on Rusev, who will likely be buried until Lana comes back. And even then, there's no guarantee WWE will give them another push after this fiasco. We know how petty WWE can be.

Ziggler's actually having some major character development with him personally which is something he's never had in his entire career. Since he's joined the company he's always felt like a complete and true "character". Even when he won the MITB and title he's felt like "a great wrestler who's just having matches" and we couldn't see how he really was. Showing off, being the best, those are attributes and not who people really are. Now however with this Total Divas thing, Lana/Rusev/Summer thing we're actually seeing who Dolph Ziggler is which is what you need to excel in this company. We're seeing he's a guy who's really about that "getting the girls for real" lifestyle and his true personality is showing a bit. He's a little bit of a heel like last night with the Cena match, he's just "that guy" and little by little we've seen it come out but now it seems as though it might actually happen.
I have a great feeling about this with Dolph. It feels like he's about to go through what Edge went through in 04 if they turn him heel and let him be himself. Show more of himself that's more about "showing off" but being "that guy" that we see.

Raw was the first I'd heard of their engagement and I think the same for a lot of viewers. Of course WWE probably mentioned it because they probably have some kind of deal with TMZ to promote them. Same way as TMZ always "breaks" big news about WWE and the Hall of Fame.

Also it's great how this storyline worked itself into a shoot. "Yeah Rusev, stick it to those dumb marks brother! Let's see what else he's up to"
