So I don't start many threads, but I thought some people might be interested in this one. Apparently the long-time newspaper comic strip Apartment 3-G will be discontinued by the end of the year. For those that don't know, the strip, started in 1961, was about three single women (based on Lucille Ball, Joan Collins and Tuesday Wells) living as roommates in a Manhattan apartment. It's pretty much a staple on Josh Fruhlinger's "The Comics Curmudgeon" blog where it (as well as several other previously long forgotten soap opera newspaper comic strips) has built up something of a cult following. Over the last few years the writing on the strip has just become almost incoherent. More noticeably the art, done by 91 year old comic book artist legend Frank Bolle, has become atrocious. The characters appearances are rarely consistent from strip to strip and the backgrounds blatantly contradict the dialogue. Some people on the Comics Curmudgeon website have suggested that Bolle might be suffering from health problems. Between all of this apparently King Features Syndicate has decided to pull the plug on it. However at the strips peak in the 60's and 70's it featured some of the most stunning photorealistic art in the business and brought to life the lives of three girls trying to make it in the big city. It's a sad loss to sequential art fans everywhere. www.unionleader.com/article/20151019/LOCALVOICES02/151019266

Aw, oh well at least there's still Mary Worth, Mark Trail and Rex Morgan MD for daily soap opera strip insanity.
Also I'm reminded of an episode of the Golden Girls that made fun of 3G's glacial paced story telling.

I feel like it's become even worse in the last year or so, since Tommie at least used to consistently look the same, but now sometimes her hair triples in length. It needs to either be turned over to a new team, which seems unlikely, or end with some degree of dignity.
