Melbourne wrestling icon, George Julio, retiring

After 40+ years in wrestling, Melbourne wrestling icon George "Hitman" Julio is retiring at the age of 70.

George was born in Malta before moving to Australia to be a part of the World Championship Wrestling promotion at the infamous Festival Hall in the 60's and 70's.

If not known for his days in Festival Hall, he is most likely known for his wrestling school in Sunshine. Where every wrestler in Melbourne has trained or at least heard of.

As the last wrestler from the Festival Hall days, George is ending his amazing career on November 7th at the New Age Wrestling show in Albion where he and Lobo will face Mad Dog Mcrea and Enforcer inside a steel cage. If you are in Melbourne, you don't want to miss this.

I used to watch him wrestle in 1998/1999. A friend was trained by him around that time, too.

Also, wasn't his Julio's ring used by the majority of Melbourne promotions at one point?

EDIT: Just watched it. Classic Aussie journalism: they have to mention that it's fake. At this point, is anybody on the planet not aware of that?
