Remember a couple years back a lot of people in the ROH circle talking about Tyson Dux. Don't know how loved he was but he appeared for a few shows and then disappeared. He was the first name that popped up in my head.

The two big indie guys in my neck of the woods were Lenny Lane and Horace the Psychopath. Both super talented, but while Lane went on to WCW, Horace (a super charismatic and athletic big man) seemed to only get occasional tryouts in dark matches. I was really surprised to see in Cornette's 1997 Timeline for KC that, when Horace's tryout was mentioned, Cornette had absolutely no idea who he was. JIM CORNETTE DIDN'T KNOW A WRESTLER.

Reckless Youth, Trent Acid, Ruckus... man I forgot these guys. The indy scene in the early 2000's was a fun place, I probably shouldn't revisit it though.
SAT were my guys, man!

Thing is, though, Quack never really became forgotten (mainly because of CHIKARA).

Scoot Andrews - Featured on the first few ROH shows and seemed to have a strong aura about him, then just vanished.

He was the first name that popped up in my head. My first exposure to Tyson Dux was as a jobber on Velocity and Heat. I always had a bit of a soft spot for that guy.

First name I thought of was Petey Williams and his Canadian Destroyer.

Yeah,Reckless Youth owns this thread
Jody Fleisch comes to mind
Chris Michaels (old old school ECW tag champ) and Rick Michaels were bigger prospects who had tons of tryouts in WWE, WCW, TNA around 99-03

Jody Fleisch is actually going under somewhat of a career resurgence right now. He's getting booked by a couple of big name promotions in the UK. He had a match against the Sumerian Death Squad at ICW's last London show, teaming with fellow early 2000s UK indy darling Johnny Storm.

Petey Williams will never really be forgotten thanks to the Canadian Destroyer.
I will never forget Human Tornado and Ruckus thanks to this moment too.
Moments like that prove that CZW isn't just death matches.

I thought Tent Acid would make it big. sadly Trent's drug addiction was one of the worst in recent years. You name it he was addicted to it... same with JC Bailey. Just got to the point their bodies couldn't recover. As for this thread, two of the first I thought of were Bobby Quance and Jardi Frantz. They were 2 guys I remember everybody wanting booked East from the west coast (after Super Dragon and B-Boy... funny enough Excalibur wasn't as loved back then as Benny and Dragon) 2 other guys from Canada people loved were Exxess 69 and Arsenal. While not "forgotten", Arik Cannon used to get a lot of hype, but then when the bigger feds started booking him the reaction was... meh Mondo has said he wished he didn't get into the death match stuff, but he also said that he didn't want to have a long wrestling career. While he was wrestling he was going to art school. But he has said he thought about coming back, but realized he had to choose between wrestling and film and he chose film. Many actually thought he was BETTER than Cole, but he suffered a bad ankle injury, then Akuma gave him a very bad concussion (which got Akuma kicked out of CZW because he was told not to do the move that hurt Ty by DJ and a few other wresters). He left wrestling cause he had a kid and the concussion really messed him up.

Reckless Youth is the top guy for this subject. He had a WWE deal but never ended up being brought up to the main roster. He also never did more than a tryout match for ECW at the time. Tons of unrealized potential on a national level.
From that same era, Steve Bradley was a similar case. Had a WWE deal, showed tons of promise, never was brought up to the main roster, got released, and passed away a few years later.
Though Devon Storm eventually had a WCW run as Crowbar, guys like Ace Darling and Inferno Kid in the same era never got similar opportunities on a larger stage.
Other guys on the same "had tons of potential or hype, but never amounted to anything significant" list, from various time periods:
Scoot Andrews
Chance Beckett
Vordell Walker
Michael Shane

I thought Tyson Dux would've become bigger than he did. He had all the ingredients. Not the biggest guy but he has a good look, good in the ring and has charisma. He's having a stag and doe in Windsor open to the public sometime in November. There's going to be a 2 hour wrestling show followed by the party.

Shane (referee in tna) was pretty big in Puerto Rico and when he showed up in tna I thought it was his time. Sadly I was wrong.
Nick mondo was one that popped into mind.
Jimmy Vegas, Shirley Doe, Sterling James Keenan (damn concussions) Ncchesney, plus anyone who ever held the super indie title. 2002-06 was a really good time for Indy wrestling.

For me, Sara del Rey. Deserves to be right in the middle of the spotlight of what's happening in NXT, and hopefully soon to be WWE. I know she is behind it all, but she is the best I've seen stateside.
