With only one world title these days, I have no interest in seeing "thank you" runs. I would like to think that if Cesaro, Ziggler, Cody and their ilk get the title, it's because they have been pushed for the title at that time. I agree, but I do have an interest in HHH pulling a coup and giving people "Holy shit I can't believe Vince didn't let you near it" runs. Maybe take Ziggler, Ryder, Swagger, Cesaro et al out of midcard hell already. We already lost one generation, let'ss not lose this one

The only mid-carder I think from that time period who might have earned one isn't even working for the company anymore, and that's John Morrison.
Miz is likely never getting a world title again, but I can also see the guy working for WWE for a long, long time so I think he's basically set anyway.

With only one belt to pass around, I'm amazed Foley ever even got it.

I think "thank you runs" still have a place. But to me it seemed strange that someone like Big Show got a "thank you run" when he was already in his prime. Imo a thank you run should be for a wrestler who COULD'VE been a world Champion, and only didn't get to that level because of factors like politics, injuries, being too nice of a guy to step on other wrestlers, or bad timing (e.g. Someone else suddenly gets hot and the wrestler's momentum derailed in the process of trying to strike while the iron is hot).
Also I think a "thank you run" could still work with just one world title. The thing is that when there were Two titles, the fact that one title was specifically set aside for this purpose only ended up making the entire gesture meaningless, as if to say "you deserve a world title run, but nah, not really".

Still holding out home for JoMo to return, but only if he gets a new finisher

If Ric Flair didn't get a "thank you run" with a pretend world championship belt back in 2003, there is no way that someone like Rhodes or Ryback deserve a run with a legitimate world championship.

Why would Ric Flair need a "thank you run" when he's already been a world champion so many times and has already held WWE's "legitimate" championship twice? Even though he didn't officially retire until years later, it was obvious that he was more valued as a personality than a wrestler at that point. He was basically a full time part timer.

Nostalgia, a feel good storyline. Winning the same big gold belt that he was synonymous with back in the NWA and WCW. They had already given Hogan a run with the Undisputed title the previous year so it wasn't entirely out of the question to give Flair a run too.

"thank you runs" are not real.

Miz should never hold the title again. While I would love another Miz world title reign above anybody else on the roster, I agree. They've devalued him as a legitimate contender to the point where even I couldn't buy him being pushed to the main event again.

I like Miz but he's good in the place he's in. I'd love for him to just commentate
