What if... CM Punk never left Ring of Honor?
The year is 2005. CM Punk is your ROH World Champion, having defeated Austin Aries at Death Before Dishonor. He is also known to be headed to World Wrestling Entertainment. ROH Wrestlers have banded together to try and take the belt of Punk to no avail. Samoa Joe was unable to get the victory after a sixty-minute time limit draw, Christopher Daniels was unable to defeat Punk, and even James Gibson couldn't defeat the Second City Saint. Meanwhile, CM Punk is undergoing the last bit of testing needed before officially signing with the company. While Punk did famously sign his WWE contract on the ROH Title, it was mainly for show, as he had yet to receive his medical clearance. In a horrible twist of fate, Punk was discovered to have elevated liver enzymes, which pushed back his debut. Unable to get medical clearance, the decision was ultimately made to pass on signing the ROH World Champion. Punk would later blast the company at an ROH event that was tentatively named "Punk: The Final Chapter", stating... "I gave everything I had inside this ring for the better part of two years, proving that I was unquestionably the best wrestler in the world today. But instead of taking a chance, instead of showing that you can grow and change with the times, you remain stuck. stuck depending on your Hunter Hearst Helmsley's, Shawn Michales', and your Undertaker's. Men who hit their stride years ago and should be making way for the future instead of continuing to dominate our television screens. You decided that these men were more important than CM Punk, more important that the best wrestler in the world, so I'm here to make this declaration. World 'Wrestling' Entertainment can go f*** themselves, because CM Punk is going to take Ring of Honor to heights never seen. If I have to drag each and every one of you fat ass ROH fans kicking and screaming, I am going to take this place to the forefront of wrestling culture. Gone is your Hulk Hogan's and your Bruno Sammartino's. Gone is the idea that WWE is the only show in town. You can hate me, you can boo me, but in the end you'll thank me when I make ROH worth a damn in this industry."CM Punk would go on to defend his title belt in what would be Samoa Joe's last ROH match, as he would sign exclusively with TNA the following week. Punk would continue his title reign, defeating Austin Aries, Steve Corino, Harry Smith, Homicide, and his old enemy Jimmy Rave before competing against ROH Pure Champion Bryan Danielson in the main event of Final Battle. In what was billed as a "Unification Match", Punk and Danielson would go to a draw when they were attacked by a contingent of CZW stars. Led by CZW Champ Nick Gage and The Dudley Boyz (renamed Team 3D after copyright issues), the CZW wrestlers would lay waste to the ROH Champions in the final moments of the event. Later that week, it was announced that Ring of Honor had found a home on FSN, with the debut show taking place on January 4th. It was there that Nick Gage threw down the gauntlet, declaring that ROH and CZW could coexist any longer. It was time to see who would be left standing at the end of this war. Punk would respond in kind, informing Gage that "garbage wrestlers who bleed for the chance at getting a large combo instead of medium" couldn't stand up to the ROH elite. The two sides would engage in guerrilla warfare tactics, with CZW interfering in a number of matches at "Supercard of Honor" while ROH would disrupt the annual "Best of the Best" tournament and convincing BotB winner Kevin Steen to side with ROH. It would be CZW who had the last laugh as Nate "Spyder" Webb would win the ROH Pure Title in a four corner survival after Bryan Danielson was forced to vacate due to injury. The month of February leading to ROH's Anniversary Show is where the scene begins. The main event is CZW Champ Nick Gage vs. ROH Champ CM Punk in the first Title vs. Title match. The infamous Cafe of Death is also going to make an appearance as five of CZW's craziest wrestlers take on five of ROH's best. And Team 3D, your ROH Tag Team Champs, take on the Briscoe Brothers in a Fight Without Honor. Can ROH defend their home, or will CZW prove superior?
