To preface this, mods feel free to close this thread if this kind of thing is too sensitive! But it's not meant to be a judgement on anyone's faith or beliefs or anything like that, just curiosity! I'm thinking of it more like the "wrestlers in other sports" thread. So we all know the common trope of wrestlers living the debaucherous lifestyles common to the business in the 80's and 90's, before finding God/being born again. HBK, Million Dollar Man, Sting, too many to mention I'm sure (actually I can't think of others off the top of my head but I'm sure there's loads!). When I saw the recent thread about Taryn finding religion, it started a train of thought that made me wonder, somewhat cynically, what the response would be if someone like that found Islam instead of Christianity. Which inspired me to start this thread because it made me curious if anyone from the business has actually done that? Or any wrestlers ever join any weird cults? Any wrestlers who are Scientologists? Orthodox Jewish wrestlers? Or any other religions outside the typical North American box, which someone's actually practicing. In before anyone mentions Matt Sydal's recent revelations, he's probably on the path most similar to myself. Again, I understand if this is closed but this kind of thing just interests me, peace! READ THIS BEFORE POSTING! We are allowing the forum to have this discussion provided it is strictly kept to who belongs to what religion. DISCUSSION OF THOSE RELIGIONS IS ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITED BEYOND THAT. -Madison

Quite a few wrestlers are Jewish including Colt Cabana, Goldberg and Raven among others. Yeah I was going to mention them as well known Jewish guys, Heyman too. But they're all kind of obvious and I know the likes of Colt arn't particularly religious. I dont think he even had a barmitzvah?

Yeah, it gets tricky because Jewish counts as an ethnicity as well as a religion, so someone can be ethnically Jewish like Colt but not necessarily be particularly devout.

I think that Antonio Inoki became a muslim after all his incursions to Iraq. It's funny that his born again name is inspired on Mohammed Ali and Saddam Hussein.
Are there muslim wrestlers on the USA? they seem to avoid the industry since they always make a mockery of their religion for cheap heat

Should have I suppose yeah, but didn't think it needed to be that formal. I'll be disappointed if everyone here isn't cool enough to keep a thread as innocuous as this (I think it is) open. I know the vast majority are. Edit: To reiterate, no offence is intended. Just interest in people's different life paths on this crazy old rock called Earth!

I believe Sami Zayn is a Muslim actually. I think you're right actually. I want to say I recall an interview with him discussing, among other things, how difficult it was to keep up with sports nutrition and training in general during Ramadan.

The big question is are there any who practice scientology? Is that even a "religion" or is it a cult? This thread is about wrestlers and their religions. It's being allowed to stay open at the moment, discussion on whether something or not is actually a religion will get the thread locked, so let's stay away from that please.

The big question is are there any who practice scientology? Is that even a "religion" or is it a cult? Im interested in that myself. I suppose what you'd class it is open for interpretation and probably doesn't need to be discussed. For some reason I can't see Scientology being too impressed with the business of pro wrestling but maybe I'm wrong. But speaking of cults, I am interested to learn if any wrestlers actually have been brainwashed by some strange movement back in the 80's or something. Im guessing if it's obscure and strange enough it's ok to talk about. But it's probably just wishful thinking on my part looking for a good story, I'm sure I would have heard about such a thing by now.

I was just trying to keep the thread on the topic of what Wrestlers follow which belief and nothing more than that.

This is such a hard thing to research because it's such a popular verb to use when discussing coming to terms with a spiritual practice.
I typed in "Zoroastrian Wrestler" and got 529,000 results, which from the first few pages all seem to be about the author "wrestling" with "Zoroastrianism."

And if you google wrestler and cult you get stuff about the Wyatts or CM Punk's theme.
