I liked that the very first words in the opening crawl were "Luke Skywalker is missing." We all thought "well, duh!". And then be finally shows up at the very end.
So I'm still unclear how Poe survived the crash on Jakku. They barely mentioned it.

Kathleen Kennedy's confirmed that Phasma will be back in a larger role for Episode VIII. Unfortunately, she gets eaten by a Sarlacc fifteen minutes in

I absolutely loved it. The movie was well paced and really fun. BB was amazing at emoting, and I liked the character much more than expected. I really like that Kylo Ren was so flawed, like an inverse protagonist rather than just an antagonist. He really felt different than most movie villains. Finn, Rey, and Poe were all very likable. My only real gripes were the opening crawl not really matching that well with what we saw. For an old friend, we didn't know shit about Max Von Sydow's character at all. That and Captain Phasma doing nothing whatsoever, and very possibly dead. Seemed a bit off to me to have that character all over the promotion for the movie and be so irrelevant. I'm really excited for ancillary content, like a map of the galaxy, just to see how the republic and first order lines are drawn. Kathleen Kennedy's confirmed that Phasma will be back in a larger role for Episode VIII. I thought Phasma would've had a bigger role in this one. All she did was scare Finn in the beginning and get punked toward the end. So I'm glad we haven't seen the last of her. Seems like all the main villains survived

By the way, so was the lightsaber suppose to be the exact same one that Luke lost in Cloud City?

Just saw it. I'm glad I don't really care about Star Wars or the characters anymore...I only saw the movie because of my friend. Just didn't have the same mood...too modern with joke after joke like it's a Marvel movie. The main bad guy...what a total buffoon and joke. I saw it last night and I agree with most of this. Here's what I hated about the movie: - I HATED Finn with a burning passion. Apparently I wasn't the only one because, near the end where he's lying on the table, someone in the theater screamed, "PULL THE PLUG, PLEASE!" He was annoying and definitely had that jokey crap going on that was straight from a Marvel movie. - Kylo Ren IS a total buffoon and a joke, yes. The minute they took his helmet off, it was all ruined and just silly. He's a really ugly dude with daddy issues. That's all you need to know about him. He's supposed to be this trained bad-ass and Finn went toe-to-toe with him and Rey kicked his ass. Which also leads me to this: Rey just suddenly felt the force and was a total bad-ass? If she can kick Kylo Ren's ass, why should I care about him or her for the remainder of the series? - This felt like a bad remake of A New Hope more than once. It's damn near the same story. - The minute Han Solo died, I was honestly done with this movie. Like I said before, he's my favorite character in the series and the reason I love Star Wars. To me, he was amazing in this movie and (admittedly) it's extremely disappointing that we won't get to see that character again. It was a horrible way to go out: He was killed by his stupid, ugly son. But, hey! We have Finn to crack jokes and fill that void that Han's leaving, RIGHT!? Pfft. - While it was VERY cool to see him again, that final shot with Luke was really f***ing corny. - Seriously, Finn is just awful. While it sounds like I loathed the movie, I actually didn't. I think it's easily better than any of the prequels, but doesn't hold a candle to the original trilogy. All in all, I left disappointed, but not hating it. I still wish I had a DeLorean so I could go back in time and make sure that Star Wars ended after Return of Jedi. If I had to give a rating to this, I'd give it a 6/10. The Rey being way better all of a sudden thing seemed like it was battle meditation, a force power that makes you a combat badass by being one with the force. Considering Kylo Ren didn't seem to have a great connection, probably not something he ever learned how to do.

I was so bought into Kylo Ren before the mask removal. How do you go from freezing blasters mid-air to not being able to defeat a storm trooper? I'm totally guessing it has to do with interference from "the light," but if they don't explain this away or fix it, I'm going to have big time trouble for the next two films. It's also possible he just sucks with a light saber. But I need something else to suspend disbelief against Finn.
Also, I'll even accept that the helmet helps him channel something not within himself already. So the incident with Han is a turning point where he makes his first fully dark decision.
Like I said, I'm just going to need help on that one. First half of film = Kylo Ren leaping to legendary character status; second half of film = pervert from HBO's Girls botching life and the force.

By the way, so was the lightsaber suppose to be the exact same one that Luke lost in Cloud City? That one line of exposition about it being a question for another time probably means it'll never be brought up again. And is that orange bitch going to be " the new Yoda"?

Considering Kylo Ren didn't seem to have a great connection, probably not something he ever learned how to do. If that is the case, is battle meditation brought up at some point beforehand? If not then it needs to be addressed in the film in some way. There's a big difference between having things happen where you can read between the lines or extrapolate from previously given information to fill in the gaps, and just pulling something out of your arse and letting a cartoon, comic book, or novel do the explaining. Too many films are guilty of that these days.

Saw it with a friend last night, and I love love loved it. I await the sequel with great interest. Also, when I was walking into the theater room I saw a guy walk past me with a Rebellion emblem shirt, probably from an earlier showing than mine, and his eyes were totally red. So I had a feeling that an old favorite was gonna get got.

I hope I get to see Adam Driver's head cut off or something... didn't realize I'd see his Election-esque reign of terror from While We're Young continue in the Star Wars movie.
Also, can't wait for the fourth Death Star in the next movie, ad infinitum.

A lot of the stuff with Luke was fleshed out in the originals.
The prequels throw you into an already established character with Obi Wan.
This one starts with nothing and within a short time, Rae is able to outdo whatever his name was.

Honestly the only Death Star battle that had a shred of tension was the first one. Every follow up has us taken out of the action and returned periodically. It's lazy storytelling, honestly.

Good guys will always best bad guys on an even playing field. It's a Rey Mysterio! I wonder how many cuts to close up shots of Finn reacting to shit were in the movie. Felt like three hours worth.

I hope Carrie Fisher's voice/appearance in this movie will inspire a generation of children to say no to drugs. Everything with Leia pretty much felt like Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 when he had Margot Kidder play the therapist and you just felt really sad about her life choices the whole time.

So I just read that Daniel Craig has a cameo as a stormtrooper. I'm not a fan of his Bond, but I have to mark out a little bit at that.

Finn seemed pretty disturbed to see a fellow stormtrooper die. Good thing he got over that later when he was blasting them. Maybe it was his friend or something.
