I'm going with the Snoke being Darth Plagueis theory.

So, I just realized a plot hole.
So Kylo Ren seems to see Vader as some kind of dark Jesus or something, praying to him for guidance and to keep from falling back into caring about others. But... He's Vader's grandson and was taught the ways of the Jedi by Luke. So... Are we to believe that not once did his family ever explain how they brought down the Empire to him, or that Luke never told the whole story of Anakin to his students to try and dissuade them from exactly what Ben wound up doing?
I mean, I can buy the Vader / Anakin thing being just a myth or not really known at all to the general public, but not to his immediate family being trained by the guy who was integral to it.

Just came back from it. Nothing negative really to say about it. Very enjoyable. It doesn't break new ground, the first act and third act follow Star Wars '77 very closely, almost exactly in a lot of ways, the opening shot with the Star Destroyer, droid in the desert. And of course there are a call backs to the first one like their own cantina scene. Which has my favorite action involving the Resistance and First Order doing battle. Especially liked that they showed Poe Dameron actually be the best pilot and not just tell us. I think the most negative I can be is something that is unavoidable in today's tentpole films. First Star Wars there are moments of just characters being characters, not scenes pushing toward fight scenes. Once we meet Luke, we aren't then thrust into action. He has character moments on his own, then meets Ben, finds Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru dead. Also, they don't cut back to the Death Star where action takes place. There's tension though. Hell, even most of the Mos Eisley scene doesn't involve action. Yes, lightsaber slice, Han shoots first, then Millennium Falcon gets shot at. But even those aren't huge action set pieces. The story moved in the old movies, not moved into action scenes and I don't mean that prequel shit like the Senate scenes. Example, the whole vote of no confidence scene makes no sense since the CHancellor is going to send another team to investigate that there's an invasion. Going back to things I liked, I really like the lightsaber fight between Kylo Ren and Rey. It felt like their was weight to each lightsaber swing and hit. I liked the new characters. They pushed the humor where I was amused, like Finn taunting Captain Phasma who really didn't do anything. Poe Dameron didn't have many scenes with any of the characters except Finn. Daisy Ridley was very good as Rey, the main character. I feel fine with Kylo Ren as Han and Leia's son and the main villain. Snoke was strange, I wonder if he's supposed to be a force projection since that's not a hologram that they usually use.

Based on the fact that he talked to Snoke about not allowing Han or Leia to bring him to that side, I'm assuming he believes that part of Vader was weak enough to be brought back to that side by Luke. That or he doesn't believe what Luke told him about Vader. Regardless, it's not necessarily a plot hole.

Finn: Why can't we take that ship?
Rey: That ship is garbage.
*Boom*
Rey: Let's take the garbage.
*Millenium Falcon!!!!!!!
Damon, this movie was great. And it only took 35 years for Harrison Ford to get his wish and Han to die

I'm going with the Snoke being Darth Plagueis theory. I'm going with that theory as well, since he looks just like him and he is a force projection which likely means he is communicating with them much like Yoda and Obi-Wan did with Luke after they passed away. Although I would imagine it would be different with the Sith,so they got some 'splaining to do, especially for the more casual fans. Also, on another note, I think Rey is also Han/Leia's daughter. They did have twins, even if these movies aren't really following the books.

Just saw it.
I'm glad I don't really care about Star Wars or the characters anymore...I only saw the movie because of my friend.
Just didn't have the same mood...too modern with joke after joke like it's a Marvel movie.
The main bad guy...what a total buffoon and joke.

I absolutely loved it. The movie was well paced and really fun. BB was amazing at emoting, and I liked the character much more than expected. I really like that Kylo Ren was so flawed, like an inverse protagonist rather than just an antagonist. He really felt different than most movie villains. Finn, Rey, and Poe were all very likable.
My only real gripes were the opening crawl not really matching that well with what we saw. For an old friend, we didn't know shit about Max Von Sydow's character at all. That and Captain Phasma doing nothing whatsoever, and very possibly dead. Seemed a bit off to me to have that character all over the promotion for the movie and be so irrelevant.
I'm really excited for ancillary content, like a map of the galaxy, just to see how the republic and first order lines are drawn.

That... was shit. A beat for beat fan fic remake of the first movie.
And I know it's passe to throw the term around, but a hyper powerful force user without training that is a better pilot than Han Solo that all the characters feel an attraction towards, who beats the bad guy the first time she ever sees a lightsaber.... that's a Mary Sue, right?

Rey could definitely be read that way. Personally, I thought of it more as passing a torch rather than Mary Sueing. Also, she came off like a better mechanic than Han, not a pilot, which, to be fair, was Chewie's end of the deal not Han's, and with Chewie injured, gave her a chance to shine.

I already have my ticket for tomorrow (thank you Fandango) but this makes me want to see it even more because of how awful it sounds on paper. Also: Don't know if this is just how the image was made or if it was used the same way in the movie, but I find it awfully comforting that they still use "Solar System" wrong. The correct term is "Star System". Ours is called the Solar System because our star is called Sol.

who beats the bad guy the first time she ever sees a lightsaber.... that's a Mary Sue, right? That was the biggest issue. Not only that, but Finn held his own way too well, even inflicting an injury on him. Awful. And can someone get Carrie Fisher a better set of dentures? I know she's older, but there was definitely something off with the way she talked and I don't think it's just the cigs.

Just saw it. I'm glad I don't really care about Star Wars or the characters anymore...I only saw the movie because of my friend. Just didn't have the same mood...too modern with joke after joke like it's a Marvel movie. The main bad guy...what a total buffoon and joke. I saw it last night and I agree with most of this. Here's what I hated about the movie: - I HATED Finn with a burning passion. Apparently I wasn't the only one because, near the end where he's lying on the table, someone in the theater screamed, "PULL THE PLUG, PLEASE!" He was annoying and definitely had that jokey crap going on that was straight from a Marvel movie. - Kylo Ren IS a total buffoon and a joke, yes. The minute they took his helmet off, it was all ruined and just silly. He's a really ugly dude with daddy issues. That's all you need to know about him. He's supposed to be this trained bad-ass and Finn went toe-to-toe with him and Rey kicked his ass. Which also leads me to this: Rey just suddenly felt the force and was a total bad-ass? If she can kick Kylo Ren's ass, why should I care about him or her for the remainder of the series? - This felt like a bad remake of A New Hope more than once. It's damn near the same story. - The minute Han Solo died, I was honestly done with this movie. Like I said before, he's my favorite character in the series and the reason I love Star Wars. To me, he was amazing in this movie and (admittedly) it's extremely disappointing that we won't get to see that character again. It was a horrible way to go out: He was killed by his stupid, ugly son. But, hey! We have Finn to crack jokes and fill that void that Han's leaving, RIGHT!? Pfft. - While it was VERY cool to see him again, that final shot with Luke was really f***ing corny. - Seriously, Finn is just awful. While it sounds like I loathed the movie, I actually didn't. I think it's easily better than any of the prequels, but doesn't hold a candle to the original trilogy. All in all, I left disappointed, but not hating it. I still wish I had a DeLorean so I could go back in time and make sure that Star Wars ended after Return of Jedi. If I had to give a rating to this, I'd give it a 6/10.
