As a big fan of the Empire, I'm glad they survived. It always pissed me off that merely killing Palpatine and Vader, and blowing up the Death Star II somehow ended the war. No way would all the Imperial commanders have given up.

Gotta wonder how many "May the Schwartz be with you" jokes were made during filming.

As a big fan of the Empire, I'm glad they survived. It always pissed me off that merely killing Palpatine and Vader, and blowing up the Death Star II somehow ended the war. No way would all the Imperial commanders have given up. One thing Star Wars:Aftermath did well was emphasize that even though people who were at the battle of Endor knows what happened, that doesn't automatically mean everyone believes it when they hear it. Palpatine had been in charge for over 30 plus years. The Galaxy isn't just going to believe any report of his death without definitive proof.

My review: Also, I assume Finn has a little bit of Force in him since he used the Lightsaber pretty well for a first timer,of course he was a fully trained soldier after all even if he was though a janitor. I will also assume that the Supreme Commander was pulling a wizard of Oz with his hologram and is not actually that big.

Just got in from seeing it. Not even really a Star Wars fan, really only saw it to be part of the hype, but had a lot of fun and quite enjoyed it.
Not over the shocking twist that the Stormtroopers can land a shot, though.

Anyone else theater give out anything for going? That rules. All I can say after that movie is that mods everywhere are going to work overtime.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}You guys think Ford may come back at some point? My guess, being impaled, thrown off a cliff, then blown up gave him superpowers.

So...does Malla know that Chewbacca was cheating on her with the goggle alien?
Just got back from it, and I liked it. BD is adorable in his own way, and while I am kinda sad we won't see Han anymore, I am happy with the characters we have now and want to see how they do, especially since it looks like they brought Luke back into the fold.
Also, is it just me, or was the planetary superweapon destroying Courscant and the neighboring planets a subtly F-You to the prequels?

Wasn't Courscant. A different Planet We sure? Even so, destroying the major source of what would have led to political debate still seems like a middle finger to the prequels.

The thing I most appreciated about the movie was the cinematography pacing. Especially Rays introduction, and the end with Luke. No dialogue, just the camera following the characters and letting the visuals speak for themselves.

Just came back from it. Nothing negative really to say about it. Very enjoyable. It doesn't break new ground, the first act and third act follow Star Wars '77 very closely, almost exactly in a lot of ways, the opening shot with the Star Destroyer, droid in the desert. And of course there are a call backs to the first one like their own cantina scene. Which has my favorite action involving the Resistance and First Order doing battle. Especially liked that they showed Poe Dameron actually be the best pilot and not just tell us.
I think the most negative I can be is something that is unavoidable in today's tentpole films. First Star Wars there are moments of just characters being characters, not scenes pushing toward fight scenes. Once we meet Luke, we aren't then thrust into action. He has character moments on his own, then meets Ben, finds Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru dead. Also, they don't cut back to the Death Star where action takes place. There's tension though. Hell, even most of the Mos Eisley scene doesn't involve action. Yes, lightsaber slice, Han shoots first, then Millennium Falcon gets shot at. But even those aren't huge action set pieces. The story moved in the old movies, not moved into action scenes and I don't mean that prequel shit like the Senate scenes. Example, the whole vote of no confidence scene makes no sense since the CHancellor is going to send another team to investigate that there's an invasion.
Going back to things I liked, I really like the lightsaber fight between Kylo Ren and Rey. It felt like their was weight to each lightsaber swing and hit. I liked the new characters. They pushed the humor where I was amused, like Finn taunting Captain Phasma who really didn't do anything. Poe Dameron didn't have many scenes with any of the characters except Finn. Daisy Ridley was very good as Rey, the main character. I feel fine with Kylo Ren as Han and Leia's son and the main villain. Snoke was strange, I wonder if he's supposed to be a force projection since that's not a hologram that they usually use.
