Okay, we got the wilhelm scream and "I've got a bad feeling about this." But did anyone notice an 1138 reference, and did anyone lose a limb? I figured C3P0's new arm referenced that running gag.

I noticed a "Barry White" listed in the credits as an audio consultant.
Force Awakens soundtrack confirmed for baby making slow jams.

At the end inside the base I swore I heard the line from a trooper that was STRAIGHT from A New Hope; "They may be splitting up. They may be on levels..."

He did beat Finn in a couple of minutes and only truly struggled against a woman he was trying to keep alive while severely wounded. And his reputation was built mostly on beating up people nowhere near equipped to actually take him head on. He only beat Finn after Finn was able to get a couple hits on him first. As far as severely wounded, he certainly didn't move around like he was. They didn't really explore why he wanted Rae as an apprentice unless they explore this in the following movies...but unless he knows they're kin, I don't see why he would unless he wanted a puppet...and that's stretching it with the basic story they were presenting. I look at wrestling heels, I don't want them to come out of the gate by losing in their first big match, even if it was clear he wasn't at his best. Story writing isn't about needing to fill in gaps as to why things happen the way they did when someone questions what happened.

It's like a wrestling heel losing before they go to the person they're underneath for more training. He clearly needs more training, and winning wouldn't exactly have proven that.

Right, but isn't Rae going to be training as well? Will that show that her training isn't as good as his is? Or will they copy Empire by having her not finish training and then get her ass kicked? Because from a storytelling standpoint, nothing else would work.

I'm guessing Kylo's conflicted emotions are going to lead to her beating him again, but failing against Wizard of Oz Sith, then Kylo makes a heroic sacrifice, maybe to save Mom.

Add me to the list of people who say Kylo Ren was defeated by a couple of novices because he had been shot by Chewie and was bleeding out as well as the fact that despite everyone's expectations of him being the second coming of Darth Vader he was not. It's strange how often Star Wars fans have issues with things because it doesn't conform to what they figured it would be.
Snoke was perplexing. At first I thought he was actually sitting there . . but then he is a hologram? Sure didn't look like the typical Star Wars hologram we are used to. Maybe the technology has simply improved? Or maybe he is some kind of Force projection? I do also wonder as someone else put it if he isn't pulling a "Wizard of Oz" and isn't really that big. I thought he looked maybe a bit too much like Gollum myself and had to chuckle a bit about it.

If he was "bleeding out from his wound", then he's a real goddamn idiot for confronting them.
I guess that's what makes him complex or something.

To me as soon as Rey told him "He's afraid he'll never be as powerful as Darth Vader" he had to prove to himself and others that he can indeed usurp the mantel of Vader and he did that by confronting them in lightsaber combat. I did like he was pounding on the gunshot wound to deflect from the pain

............Daniel Craig was the stormtrooper who Rey influenced, right? Pretty sure that was his voice when he started obeying the instructions. "THAT'S NOT HOW THE FORCE WORKS" and "Aaaaand I'm going to drop my gun" may be the best bits of SW dialogue in years. Also, did I see Bill Hader's name in the credits as a BB-8 voice consultant?!? Yes to both, Craig filmed that in secret and Hader and another comedian recorded BB-8's line on an IPAD

It's not unusual for a villain to basically say "f*** this" and go after the heroes despite being seriously wounded. It's a common occurrence in films. It's supposed to give that "Will anything keep this guy down?" feel.

While I definitely preferred him with the mask on and would prefer he stay that way in subsequent movies, I did like Kylo Ren. Did like the flawed, unconfident Vader fanboy with rage issues thing, and also thought the, "Darth Vader on a budget," costume looked surprisingly cool.

I think it will be a letdown if the real Snoke is revealed to be super short.

Yeah, it's clear Ren wants to be Vader in the worst way, but he's just not dead inside enough yet. He's gonna be interesting to watch in Episode 8. The movie as a whole was fantastic really. I can't find anything about it that I hated, more along the lines of nitpicks, and even those were pretty thin on the ground. The tone of the dialogue felt way more natural in this movie than it did in any of the three prequels, which was great to see.

I'm willing to bet you'll get your wish considering the lightsaber cut to the face.
