I've been collecting records for most of my life and I still find myself learning as I go along
Here's my question
I'm into first pressings and such and I know the Beatles for example have had their albums re released over the years and rightfully so due to their popularity.
But then I think back to albums like "An Innocent Man" by Billy Joel-it came out in 83 and by the late 80s of course stores stopped selling records
What I want to know is, was there likely more than one edition pressed of this record because I doubt all copies were pressed in 83 and sat on shelves for 5 years until stores stopped selling them-or maybe once the initial run was over that was it and then you were left with cassettes and CDs?
From my research that's all I can find
So, any serious collectors here?

From what I can gather, I guess that's how it went-of course, by 83, records' days were numbered, so except for the modern day 180 gram albums, I guess that was it.
That, and as popular as that album was for instance, it's worth about a dollar so that tells me that they pressed a lot-it sold over 7 million copies and a lot of those were cassette and cd sales
