Hey folks, I'm bored, so I thought I'd do a tournament. I like metal, but I didn't feel like doing the usual general Best Metal Song or Band or whatever.
There've been 27 Grammy Awards given out in the Best Metal Performance category (including the years in which Metal and Hard Rock have been merged as one category), and there are currently five nominees for the ceremony to be held in February. That's 32, which is perfect for a tournament. I've randomized the entries, first to receive 3 votes moves on. Also, I can't keep track of which songs have foul language, so I'll give a pre-emptive <LANGUAGE WARNING> to the whole thread.
ROUND ONE:
Sevendust "Thank You" (current Grammy nominee)
vs.
Judas Priest "Dissident Aggressor (live)" (Won Best Metal Performance at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards)

I am also voting Sevendust. One of my all-time top five favorite bands.

After much deliberation, I vote Sevendust. The Priest song was good too but the Sevendust song was more my shit.

In a shocking (and personally satisfying) upset, Sevendust have toppled the mighty Judas Priest and moved on!
NEXT MATCH!
Foo Fighters "White Limo" (won Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards)
vs.
Korn "Here to Stay" (won Best Metal Performance at the 45th Annual Grammy Awards)

Korn. I can't vote for the Foo Fighters in a metal thread.

I vote Korn. I love Foo Fighters, but White Limo is probably my least favorite track off of Wasting Light.

And with that, Korn beats Foo Fighters 3-1 and moves on.
UP NEXT:
Slipknot "Custer" (current Grammy nominee)
vs.
Metallica "Stone Cold Crazy" (this Queen cover appeared on a compilation celebrating Elektra Records' 40th Anniversary, and received the Best Metal Performance Grammy at the 33rd Annual Grammy Awards)

Metallica crushes Slipknot in the quickest match thus far. Moving on...
UP NEXT!
Metallica "Enter Sandman" (Metallica won the Best Metal Performance Grammy at the 34th Annual Awards ceremony for their self-titled "Black" album as a whole; I've selected the opening track, "Enter Sandman" to represent the album here)
vs.
Nine Inch Nails "Wish" (One year later, at the 35th Grammy ceremony, "Wish" took home the Best Metal Performance honor)
