Have there ever been any Star Trek stories (either on the tv shows or even in the books/comics) that involve music? Aside from "Sabotage" in the 2009 movie, it seems the only music people listen to in the future of trek is classical and opera (especially in Next Generation), no rock, no rap, no r&b, no metal, not even techno. I know it likely costs less but you'd think that the future would have upgrades in music. Of course, i could be wrong, but im just going with what i know about.

There was Vic Fontaine on DS9. He was a hologram lounge singer. Riker was a jazz trombonist.

While it was still time travel to our future, their past, in First Contact we had the songs "Oobie Doobie" by Roy Orbison and "Magic Carpet Ride" by Steppenwolf.

It sort of makes sense with classical and opera I suppose, but it really takes me out of it when we hear current music in stuff set in the future.

I forget which episode but isn't there a country singer who is rescued from cryo-suspension by the Next Gen crew along with a banker and someone else?

There is the club that Scotty goes to in Into Darkness, which I believe had six variations of the same song depending on which territory the film was released in.

I'm sure a big part of the reason that rock music and things like that aren't featured in much of the TNG era of Star Trek is due to licensing issues. It seems absurd that the only music from the past people in the federation like is Jazz, Opera, and classical. Barring that, there is this classic from Star Trek IV, I have no idea who its by though.
Does anyone know?
EDIT: Nevermind, turns out the song was done in house and made just for the movie. Wow!

I imagine Bashir and O'Brien probably listened to some good music while getting shitfaced.

There was that episode of TNG where Picard had a fling with a science officer (I think?) and they played music together.
The episode was called "Lessons," I believe.

Another big reason is that at some point Star Trek's past wildly diverges from ours, to include WWIII, Eugenics, etc etc. So their pop culture, their music, would likely be very different from ours.

Or am I mixing up my Okudagrams from my special edition DVD...

The punk is played by Kirk Thatcher. He wrote and sang the song, and was also associate producer on Star Trek IV

In Voyager, it was heavily implied that Tom Paris was obsessed with 50s culture - hot rods, B-movies and early rock and roll.
