How would it have changed things, if at all? Would some guys get let go before getting the chance to develop due to increased exposure? Would others who got released or asked for their release have caught fire early on due to their natural charisma and been main roster stars? I'd imagine at least Colt Cabana, Kenny Omega, Joe Doering, Mike Knox, and Gunner Scott would've had better WWE careers than they did. The real tragedy in all this is we were possibly robbed of so much more melty man

OVW under Paul Heyman was the NXT of its day. People like me would buy tapes of the shows every month. Folks like Meltzer praised OVW on a regular basis. They made a main event between Lashley and Ken Doane almost worthy of being on a marquee WWE ppv. Deep South was more Smokey Mountain in its approach to wrestling. It got some buzz but not at the level of OVW. FCW got buzz for matches like Ambrose vs Regal. There was major hype for a bunch of talent. Just not at the level of current NXT.

OVW was the shit back in the day, brah. I used to stay up late to watch it on my local affiliate every now and then.

The issue with OVW became that they were not owned by WWE, so Danny Davis/Jim Cornette would end up having issues with the WWE because they wanted certain things done with their guys but Cornette didn't want to do those things.
