Heading into day eight of the occupation, negotiations with The Harney County Sheriff have failed. The sheriff offered each and every one of the occupiers a full police escort out of the state of Oregon, no repercussions for any of them, and the entire force will be armed and will protect them from anybody who tries to hurt or kill any of them. They refused the offer, because "that's not what they came here for," saying that they aren't leaving until those farmers walk free. Even though the farmers themselves told the invaders to bugger off and that they would do the time. -_-

You know, usually I try to be diplomatic, but what the purple shit, Oregon?
I know they don't want a Waco, but come on.

The locals had a meeting about it and then sent a group up there to tell them to leave. They haven't left, claiming that the locals WANT them there. They are clearly full of shit.

Again, the FAN "no politics" rule seems like a "no politics that we don't agree with" rule. And I say that as a pretty left leaning guy who thinks these people are all nuts. We're discussing their actions, not their politics. Same as when we discussed the Paris attacks, without delving into ISIS's political stance.

I am sure this thread will allowed to get political as long as it keeps a certain slant. Some animals are more equal than others. You don't like how something is going, report it. These little jabs don't help anyone or thing. Not all of us are paying attention to this thread so of course not everything gets noticed or covered. You don't like something, click on the post and... REPORT IT!!!!!!!!! Could I not be more clear? Instead of the little shots, let us know what it is you have an issue with via the REPORT POST option. What was that option that lets the staff know about things so we can take action if necessary? REPORT POSTREPORT POST?Yes, if there is something the staff should know about, use the REPORT POST option.

I've deleted two previous posts, though they are quoted above, because they were incorrect.

I do want to make a public apology, I was a dick with that last post and should not have done that. @rrnew and anyone else I might have upset with that, I apologize. Could have and should have been better with that.

This isn't an "armed assault" or anything of the sorts. I think a lot of the talk about it is needlessly over the top. Comparing these guys to terrorists seems silly to me.
The building was EMPTY when they occupied it for a holiday weekend, but everybody's talking like they went in their and basically kicked people out by gunpoint. If you dislike the mere presence of guns at the site, I don't know what to tell you. It's legal for them to have them. When it comes to whether or not they have anything to protest against, the ranchers they're protesting for were forced during the trial to give right of first refusal to the Bureau of Land Management (who they'd have dispute with for years). That means if they ever wanted to sell the land they HAVE to sell it to the BLM. At the very least, putting aside whether they set the fire, doesn't it bother you just a little that the government is forcing them to sell the land to them? Bugs me.
As for the race claims, the biggest two incidents of people occupying buildings and then being killed by the government as a result involved a whole hell of a lot of white people.

Who hasn't gotten 150 buddies together and a bunch of guns and claimed a small piece of the USA for yourselves with threats of violence. Since when was there a law against friendship? (tbh though I strongly believe the building should've been immediately reclaimed on principle these guys are a bunch of laughingstocks at this point)

And the threats to kill anyone that tries to stop them or that approaches the site? Plus I dunno about you Americans, but everyone else in the world kinda have a problem when a bunch of armed assholes take over a place.

It's a protest asserting what they see as fundamental freedoms, and the right to bear arms is one of them to them.
