Now I know this could easily turn into "Well the Elbow Drop worked fine for Macho Man, these aerial moves today are just overdone trapeze stuff", but I'm more interested in how you see aerial moves evolving now, because they are definitely not going away, or getting any safer. After all, as a WWF kid I remember thinking Shawn doing a moonsault to the outside was crazy (it is!), and then having my mind blown with Flash Funk's 450 Splash. Then a few months later, my mind was blown again with Kidman's Shooting Star. Though the moves may seemingly be getting more and more illogical, you do have to admit that stuff like Neville's Corkscrew Shooting Star are damn impressive achievements in human movement, if not downright insane( like, the double rotation moonsault, which likely is going to end badly for someone one of these days).
So now, at a time when Moonsaults and 450s are done regularly on the indies from the standing position, what type aerial move is going to blow our minds next? This thread came to me as I was laying in bed, wondering if a double rotation shooting star is even possible. I'm sure several actual indie wrestlers are thinking the same thing as I write that though. There always seems like a limit to where things like aerial moves can go, but it just takes one creative guy or gal to dream something up and hit it cleanly at a big show for them to become legendary. Anyway, feel free to share, or even provide video evidence if something has particularly blown your mind lately in this regard.

I thought you were asking about some female wrestler named Aerial Moves.

I thought you were asking about some female wrestler named Aerial Moves. Ariel Moves would probably have a Little Mermaid costume or top atleast and red hair.

I think the next wave for big aerial moves will be less "insane flips" and more "insane length or distance". Look at Angelico as the best example of this- he became one of the hottest high fliers in the world on the backs of that one amazing dive, and all it was was "a flying crossbody from a balcony into the ring that he should not have been able to make."

That's a good point, I was very impressed with that dive, and it has probably been one of the most buzzed about aerial feats in a while.

I've always wanted to see rock do a rock bottom off the top rope.
Even though she botched it I was impressed with chyna when tried the pedigree off the top

Forget more aerial moves, we just need more super kicks!

Twisting corkscrew double-flips just outright don't look as cool as a simpler move delivered crisply. I think it'll move in that direction, towards better form rather than more turns.

Hmmm... I remember seeing Takuya Sugi running along the top rope to do a "Van-Terminator"-type move.

I think, by the end of the decade, we'll see less flips and rotations with more of an emphasis on hang time and sudden position-changes right before impact.

Wrestlers will incorporate trampolines, and yes, they will do tricks.

I know the twists and flips are supposed to add torque, but outside of the Red Arrow, it doesn't really look like it to me.
EDIT: And a good 450 splash.

Yeah, I feel like flippy-twisty has kind of peaked to be honest. I think as has been said that the next trend is going to be both doing it more fluid/crisp and going for distance and height versus flips.
Go back and watch some clips from WSX; it almost because boring when nearly everyone is doing 450s or standing SSP's.
