Well it is isnt it? In 1992 they 30 men were competing for the vacant WWE Championship. They didnt have the champion defending.

Im pretty sure this will set up Triple H getting his paws on it again to set up Triple H vs Roman Reigns as the main event.. *shudders* ... Aint nobody got time for that.

1992 WWE's business went down when alot of their old money makers left. WWE has been going downhill for quite a few years now before this year.

THing is though, Bret (Although not the star power of Hogan/Warrior) was still way more in '92 than Roman is now.

It is the first time the current iteration of WWE World Heavyweight Title is being defended in the Royal Rumble.


The WWF/E Championship that was about in 1992 is technically a different title, the current title is the WWE championship merged with the the World Heavyweight title whilst taking on the the lineage of the former.


It does get confusing that the WWF/E title did have the words "world heavyweight" in its name at one point though, but its a different title.

My mistake. Steph said it was the first time the title will be on the line in the Royal Rumble. Defended was the correct word to use.

At least in 1992 they had an excuse with WCW paying out for their top guys.

Now they've got no one to blame but the fans/the IWC. Which is always hilarious to me.

Well the WWF/E title was called the WWF World Heavyweight Championship during Hogan's first run with the belt.
