I've posted a few pics of my various costume and makeup efforts in the pics/gifs thread before. I am most definitely not a hardcore cosplay type, but I do have a loose interest in it. The NYC Comic Con has become a yearly thing for me and I'd love to go to the San Diego one at least once. I prefer to do costumes that are largely based around myself, not requiring elaborate armor plating huge amounts of prosthetic makeup. And I have a quirk about adding small, personal touches to it as well. Case in point, this past I did a costume of Mister Sinister of the X Men publications-but I made it so the costume depicted him the way I envision him appearing when he is finally featured in an X Men film. Now granted, I waited way too long to start trying to get the hang of the red contact lenses and ended up having to skip them, but for the most part I think it turned out well
So, I have begun planning my next costume in earnest. And since the Sinister outfit turned out as well as it did, and with Star Wars mania once again at a fever pitch, I am considering trying something perhaps even more ambitious: Grand Admiral Thrawn. For those who do not follow up on the books: Thrawn is an admiral in service of The Empire who tries to rally the remnants of the Empire to launch a counter offensive against the Republic following the events of the original three films. He looks pretty much human, except he has blue skin and red eyes. So it will largely be not much different from the Sinister makeup. However, I am thinking of adding a small twist: instead of the white uniform of The Empire, I'd depict Thrawn wearing the back uniform of the First Order. This wouldn't just be to keep the character current-I am inclined to think that the white uniform would be a huge pain to keep clean, especially when you cover yourself with blue makeup.
What say you FAN, think this is a capital idea?
