Looks interesting. I'm down.
I loved the first one and the hype and mystery surrounding it before its release.

How in the blue hell did they keep this such a big secret from everyone? I mean, did any media outlet even have an ounce of a clue this was being made? They must of Blue Harvested it (Blue Harvest was a fake movie name that Lucasfilm used to keep the filming of Return Of The Jedi a secret) I remember Cloverfield was originally just a working title until the name caught on during it's fantastic viral marketing campaign and decided to stick with the title. So guessing it was filmed under a fake name, it was listed on imdb as 'Untitled JJ Abrahms Production'... And what I guessing not filmed on location where the public could see it.

Don't be surprised if more studios copy that tactic for big projects.

This looks amazing. Amazing. Amazing. And much better than Cloverfield at that. Then again, original Cloverfield trailer--if I recall correctly--was one of the greatest trailers/marketing ploys ever.

I read an article earlier that I can't seem to find now that explained exactly how J.J Abrams kept this all a secret. One of the ways was the fact that he directed Star Wars. So all anyone was asking him about was the Star Wars movie and not some other little project that he had coming up. Another reason is that it was apparently shot at the end of 2014 and apparently only has 3 cast members, so it was pretty easy to keep things quiet.

hmm if they didn't get up there and look out like that I would have probably suspected the twist that there is nothing out there.

So psyched for this. I loved the original and the hype for it was so fun. The concept for this is really interesting. All I remember from the hype was a. some people were convinced it was Voltron for some reason... and 2. someone found an ARG for a fallout style pen and paper rpg and everyone just assumed it was related to cloverfield for some reason Yeah, Ethan Haas Was Right was the game. I only remember the name because I ended up using the name for a CAW in one of the WWE games. Hopefully the viral marketing stuff is even half as good as the first movies. That stuff got me super hyped for it. Like www.slusho.jp/

Here's some interesting news off the IMDB forums...Will hide it in case it does spoil anything. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Someone who saw an early screening in November says it doesn't have a monster anywhere in it. Now, it is very possible that they didn't include that footage in the test screening, because well, it's a test screening. But it might be worthy of at least putting out there.

Looks interesting, but I thought the same about the first one and just didn't dig it.

How in the blue hell did they keep this such a big secret from everyone? I mean, did any media outlet even have an ounce of a clue this was being made? Everyone knew the movie was being made, nobody had a hot freakin' clue it was a Cloverfield sequel. It was supposedly a movie called Valencia based off a script called The Cellar. I guess Mary Elizabeth Winstead did some interviews about it about a year ago. EDIT: And with JJ working on Star Wars he was able to keep security tight enough that nothing leaked about Valencia being a secret Cloverfield sequel. I'm quite impressed

People will say what is the point with no giant monster in it.. Forgetting Cloverfield was not the name of the monster (it was nicknamed Clover by fans), the name Cloverfield was given to the video of the NY attack filmed by Hud, by the military.
So it's looking like the monster attack on NY is just one doomsday like event happening this movie universe.. The new movie might be some other event with some connections.
I remember one viral video of the girl sending love blogs to her boyfriend working at Slusho I believe.. and in one she eats some object he sends her and it makes her a bit crazy. Might have something to do with that.

Great, looks like I gotta dig my Slusho shirt out of storage. I f***ing love me some Cloverfield. My friends and I obsessed over the ARG before it came out.

Associating it with Cloverfield kinda takes the surprise out of the movie to me. {Spoiler}if it is in the same universe as Cloverfield, it ruins the end if Goodman is actually trying to save them from monsters outside the bunker. If it had just been called "the Shelter" or whatever, it might be less obvious of an ending

I don't think we really need spoilers since this is all speculation but what the hell all the otehr people are doing it... {Spoiler}I believe that's what he meant... if it's related to Cloverfield we as an audience know the monsters are real... so we know that Goodman isn't just some insane doomsday prep guy... and is actually trying to save them.

I've always had such a thing for Mary Elizabeth Winstead. I'll probably check it out just because she's in it. John Greatman is an added bonus.

Hey, that's not found footage! Then again, making found footage about being stuck in a bomb shelter could be challenging and would take a lot of effort to be taken seriously unless it was a comedy. Yeah, maybe we could use some comedy found footage for a change of pace.
