I know I am not the only one here that collects things, but just wondering what is your white whale...
For me, two of them are records (lp, or wax as the kids said a few years ago):
Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers with the zipper cover, I used to have it, but some re**uf stole it.
GZA - Liquid Swords double LP, I see it pop up in the summer months, but I learned the hard way that ordering records in the summer just begs for warping.

Castlevania: Symphony Of The night (PS1)
I can find the US version for a good price but The UK version goes for ridiculous prices.

I collect Living Dead Dolls. Most of my white whale were old dolls and exclusives. I ended up getting a bunch of them from my local comic book store. I wanted a doll from the first series, but she's so damned expensive that I bought a reproduction. $20 vs. $200

I collect/collected (since I haven't added one to my collection for years) fossils. My white whale was a Tyrannosaurus tooth. Wanted one ever since I started collecting but, going to find one would cost a fortune and have such a low chance of finding one and buying one, well they cost a fortune. Luckily, I made friends on a forum with another collector who had a few. His white whale was an iguanodon tooth which I had 2 of (found on the Isle of Wight) so I did a trade and got my white whale. The forum often did trades between members and other members vouched for him so I'm 100% sure it's legit
