Okay. For the first time since I can remember. I like my hair. Its long, so I dont have to wear a hat or style it for it not to look like I just woke up or it look all bad. Now my dads been wanting it to get cut for a long time even though he sees me like what, an hour or two a day, and about 3-4 days out of the week he goes the full 24 hours and more without seeing me(going to the bar and stuff). Now one day in the car we were talking about it and he wanted me to get it cut by Nov 17 and in his mind I agreed even though I never said I would and now hes all talkin bout how I agreed, and basically like rubbing it in my face all the time. Happy that I "agreed" to do something I really dont wanna do.
I mean god damn theres no reason for me too. I like it, its not hurting anyone, Im gonna be 18 in like 8 months...really plan on moving out soon after then too. Why the hell he wants it cut so bad I dont know, as he had long hair when he was a kid to, but it was "in style" then so it was okay. So I guess what hes telling me is I should go with the crowd and be in style...okay.
Besides I really wanted to atleast try and start pro wrestling, and short hair tends to look terrible in the ring unless its really, really short.
Eh...no way is my hair getting cut...

Its your hair do whatever you want with it.
What is it with Dads and Hair?
I'm 26 and living with my GF and whenever I see my Dad he still tells me to get a haircut.

i say stand up for it, he should respect your stance and eventually he'll probably get tired of telling you, does he know of your intentions to move out?

OK, my hair isn't that long (but its been ages since my last cut) and my parents nag me about it EVERY single day... it's now become something of a running gag.

You should be able to do what you want. But, I wish more people would get haircuts these days. The long hair doesn't get me so much as the abercrombie mop-tops. Respect your head.

Eh ... long hair went out in 2002. I am officially bald right now and I deal with it. If I had long hair, I don't give a flying f**k who told me to cut it, I'd keep growing it and braid that sumbatch! Hold onto the hair on your head, dude! It's better than holding it in your hands after pulling it out of the sink!

i dunno it may not be so much about the hair as something else, maybe your moving out perhaps, fathers arent the type to get all choked up when their son moves out, mothers do, but fathers will tell you "good luck" maybe this is him still trying to hang on-asking(or in this case telling you) to do something, like he's been used to doing all these years while you've been growing up under his roof, you'll soon be out on your own and maybe he's doing this out of habit, or wanting to hold on....or maybe he doesn't like long hair

Well I had this happen to me with my father when I was in 7th grade, I had really long hair and he said cut it or else. I said fine.... I came home with a mo hawk Needless to say he was more happy when i grew my hair back out, it's been long ever since, except when i deiced to cut it all off my senior year of high school, now its past down the middle of my back. I say f fads and oh its not in style bulls***,who the hell is anyone to say whats in style and whats not because those people are just assclowns to begin with!

Some parents can be hip. My pops is an old school hippie burnout that had long hair himself until recently. He's maybe not the most ambitious cat in the world but he's very understanding. As for your dad, just behave, do things for him. (he's not always gonna be there) But don't let him cramp your style. Stand up for your hair, It's on your head. Just remember, there may come a time you should consider cutting it to find good work. Perception is everything.

yeah I had long hair for a long time and only cut it because my uncle wouldn't stop bugging me about it and I ended up losing a bet to him (he's one of those people whose convinced that everyone should be like Carlton Banks, whom he's basically the white version of). but then when I got the hair cut I didnt like it so I shaved my head completly and i don't think I've ever looked better... so i guess I owe him in a way.

Hair is an easy dig for parents. When there's nothing else they have to complain about, they use that. Hey, be happy! They have nothing else to kvetch at you for!
It is annoying, though. Even girls get this. My mother was itching for me to have short hair in high school and college, though I liked mine long.

Its your hair do whatever you want with it. Yeah, I need a hair cut too, but I don't want one. I wear mine in a pony tail, it is down the upper middle of my back.
