It started off as me having a cold then I had a large amount of beer then woke up with the left side of my face in pain my tooth mainly(chipped at the top corner from years ago mostly gum) then the following day the swelling got worse. I had this happen once on another chip up tooth same time 6 years ago. The swelling went away after about 5 days. This seems strange because I have a cold and funny nose and pain in the tooth plus swelling but I had a cold 6 weeks ago and then flu another 5 weeks before that. I'm finding it hard to eat.

I think you should call a doctor and/or a dentist.

Yeah, it could be an abscess. Chipped teeth can lead to pretty bad gum infections, especially if it's swollen.

Ah yes, I had a large amount of beer once, amongst, who knows what else? Since we knew the owner and it was birthday, apparently letting my friends behind the bar to mix drinks was totally fine. Anyway, I woke up, amongst other things, with a large bruise and road rash on my back. Found out it was from when my friends dropped my drunken, unconscious ass trying to get me home, they also slammed my head in the car door several times before they decided they should reconfigure me in the car......You should probably see a dentist.
