I feel like we got a lot of people sleeping on IV here. Granted, by "traditional" metrics, it's not a great film, but c'mon! Rocky ends the Cold War in 15 rounds of boxing! AND buys his friend a crazy ass robot that I can only assume had some sort of sex toy function for how remarkably quickly Paulie got attached to the thing.

Rocky Creed Rocky Balboa Rocky 2 Rocky 3 Rocky 4 Rocky 5
WIth 2-4, the longer they went, the more they forgot eveyrthing that made the first movie one of the best ever. There's still some cheesy fun in 3-4, but as far as comparing them, they're much worse movies.
5 was just crap all around. I feel like it tried to keep the feel, but it was so shoddily done that it failed on all counts.

I know it's not an award-winner, it won't provoke you into deep thoughts, and it won't spark any emotional conversations at the water cooler, but that's not why I go to the movies. I go to the movies to be entertained and damn if "Rocky IV" isn't one of the most entertaining movies ever. It's 90 minutes of fun and that's all I ask for. My list is as follows: Rocky IV Rocky III Rocky Balboa Rocky Rocky II Rocky V I haven't seen "Creed" and though I've vowed that I never will, I have a feeling I'll give it a try once it's released on DVD.

I really have to separate this list into Rocky movies that are actually good vs. the Rocky movies I love to watch the most:
Rocky Movies that are actually good/Rocky Movies I have the most fun watching
Rocky/Rocky IV Rocky Balboa/Rocky Creed/Rocky III Rocky II/Rocky II Rocky IV/Rocky Balboa Rocky III/Creed Rocky V/Rocky V
I love all the Rocky movies, with maybe the exception of Rocky V (it's the only one I've never been able to watch all the way through more than once. I mainly skip to the Micky flashbacks and/or the final fight with Tommy Gunn). Creed is ranked low on my "fun" list because it was so hard to see what Rocky goes through in that movie. It was an amazing flick, but a little too emotionally sad for me.

Rocky 3 - The opening montage is great and the movie is great all the way through. Rocky 4 - I just liked the whole thing. Rocky Balboa - I thought it ended the right way and I liked the whole movie. Rocky - A great movie, but a bit dull through the middle. Rocky 2 - I actually found it boring. Don't know why. Rocky 5 - Its still a good movie, and I loved the whole "Touch me and I'll sue" *Rocky hits him* "Sue me for what?"
Haven't seen Creed yet so no comment on that.

The OP really nailed what my list would have been. I love these movies to death, even V has some good moments in it despite it not being very good.

You know when you see and read a word so many times it turns to gibberish?
This thread has currently done that to the word "Rocky" for me.

Haven't seen Creed yet but if it's as good as folks say I'm guessing it goes at 3.
1. Rocky 2. Rocky 2 3. Rocky Balboa 4. Rocky 3 5. Rocky 4 6. Rocky 5(a distant fifth)

One thing about Creed, and granted I could be putting too much thought into this, but Adonis Creed is Apollo's illegitimate son, right? Apollo was killed in 1985 by Drago, so assuming it's set in the present day that would make Adonis thirty at the youngest. Not exactly an up and comer, is he? As for the rankings, I'd have to put Rocky II first, purely from a sentimental point of view. I loved watching the training montage as a kid, and hearing THAT music when he leaves his house to train still makes me smile today. I see it like this. Though some think rocky 4 was set straight after 3 in 1981, I think it is set in 1985 when the film was set. This is backed up by Rock saying he's been with Adrian for nine years. Anyway, as Apollo is fighting Drago in 85, his mistress is pregnant with Adonis Creed. Apollo dies many months before baby Creed is born at the start of 86. So Creed being set in 2015 would have Adonis at around 29. Michael B Jordan is 28 in real life. Which is basically the exact same age as Stallone was in the first Rocky. Both have had a number of small scale fights under their belts and then they students get their big shots at around thirty. Thanks dude, that makes a lot of sense. I also thought that Rocky IV was set in 1985; it's got a Mikhael Gorbachev (sp?) lookalike watching the fight, if memory serves.
