I worked every one of the tribute shows and...my God. I still remember being in the ring in 1999, doing set-up work (I was reporting,b ut told Les "use me however you need me, I'm here to help") and the kids were just palying in the ring. I can STILL see them, little Brian in his dad's football jersey, all of it...the song over the loudspeaker at that moment was "Arms of the Angles" I will NEVER forget it.

Sad all the way around.
I mean, I know it won't bring her dad back, but it'd be nice if Austin would do a fundraiser, or something. Or Vince quietly funnels some money towards college educations and helping Linda.
Unfortunately, stories like this are far too common.. this one just happens to have occurred to someone semi-famous.

Austin headlined the very first Pillman show. I wouldnt' be surprised if they don't reach out to her.

Horrific story. If I'm not mistaken, didn't one of Pillman's kids get killed in a car wreck a few years back.

For years, I've been campaigning hard for Pillman to get into the HOF, but after reading this story and seeing who would get the money off it and where it would go, I'm now ambivalent on it. Maybe that's why WWE hasn't pulled the trigger on it?

Not trying to counter you, generally curious. I don't use Twitter myself, so don't know what kind of etiquette there is, butsomething like that he'd privately take care of. Or do we know he simply ignored them. If so, that is a bit shitty to not acknowledge, whether he could do anything or not.

I hope he did. I guess it's because I saw that and she said shes reached out but not heard anything. I jumped to the conclusion. Hopefully I was wrong.

I hope things work out for her, and her family. It's sad that Melanie handled the money the way she did, but, Brian's sister is amazing for stepping up, even when it was rough on her financially. I hope there is a way for his children to receive some support.

Horrific story. If I'm not mistaken, didn't one of Pillman's kids get killed in a car wreck a few years back. It was his Step-daughter, Melanie's biological daughter. I went to high school with her, but she was there off and on. Her mother always seemed to have substance issues, but I couldn't be 100% sure since she spoke in a very relaxed manner, kind of slurring, and was fairly day-dreamy most of the time. I didn't know her REALLY well since we hung out in different circles. IIRC she had actually become involved in Wrestling in one form or another before the crash. I never met her step-sister though, as she's 7ish years younger than me. I would assume she was in the same school system (until she moved) since Melanie's house was down the street from ours a bit, but I'd have no clue.

If I remember right the guy she married right after Pillman's death was actually a real life friend of Pillman's and one of the guys Austin beat up during the gun angle. I met Melanie during the last Pillman show and was amazed at how she looked. She was supposedly a Penthouse Pet but did not look like it.
His sister was also a teacher at my middle school when I was there. I never had her but we always thought she was his mother because she looked so old.

My dad went to Norwood High with his brother and sister, played football for a bit with his brother.

Meltzer had a huge write-up about Pillman for the ninth anniversary of his death. This was the penultimate chapter:
Melanie remarried very shortly after Brian died. At the last Pillman show, there was a distinct negative vibe, partially because she brought her husband to the show and even though they had at that point been married for a few years, many of the wrestlers started questioning why they were doing this. When Les Thatcher, who organized the shows every year, told Melanie there wouldn't be another one, because he simply didn't have the time with a new job he had gotten as a WWF trainer, she was furious, and it turned into an ugly exchange, leaving bitter feelings on both sides. In the end, she lost the house.

What Matt Farmer had to say
It's a sad read, but not surprising. Brian and his wives lead a very dysfunctional life
Seems a lot of people in the business knew how bad it was
