I still kind of chuckle how Lucha Underground was originally just supposed to be a starter project to get AAA's foot into the US, but now it's taken on a life of itself. And like I said last season, what I love about Lucha Underground is they take their product seriously but it embraces that this is all a big movie. They're trying to be a big promotion but aren't trying to foolishly compete with WWE. If they keep going like they are LU truly will be the number 2 promotion in North America if they aren't already. And yes, I dunno if the plan was originally for Pentagon Jr to be the breakout star, but he's about to be the breakout star in all of wrestling. Considering how AAA is badly ran and booked currently, it is better than LU exists outside of AAA. Pentagon Jr is a midcard playet who plays second fiddle to his partner, Joe Lider, in AAA. In LU, he is arguably the lead character of the show. My only big concern with LU is them stuck relying on El Rey funding their future when that network is struggling for its own future.

Oh I agree, I just find it funny how the purpose of LU has changed so much that you have AAA guys wanting to be on the show. And yeah they're relying on El Rey now, but sounds like even people involved with LU were surprised so they're trying to workout how to get income from outside of El Rey.

DVD sets would help, like a Best of Season 1 or The Puma vs Mundo rivarly collection. They do also need to get a deal so to broadcast in Spanish again, that deal with Unimas helped keep them afloat the first season. Edit: Also, there's an article about them in The LA Times. touch.latimes.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-85786775/

It goes with LU raising wrestlers' profiles by being connected to the cool promotion. Like ECW and ROH back in the day and NJPW today, just being part of that company means more bookings and bigger paydays. The thing is that there are even more talented people who people don't know about in AAA who would slay it in LU like Daga, Mamaba, Steve Pain, and Australian Suicide.

I remember reading about him signing with them and was going as Fireball while there but I haven't found any sources or sites that report him on the show.
Maybe in Season 3 he'll show up. Or he may already be on there given how hush hush they are about spoilers leaking out.

I like how Stryker was trying so hard not to call PJ Black "Justin Gabriel" to the point it was cracking Vampiro up.

And unlike another one company that did that, they didn't try to become WWE,so they should be set for a good run

Finally got around to seeing this week's episode, my thoughts on it:
I did not like finish to the main event. Tag-team champions should not lose tag-team matches against thrown together singles guys, not even championship level contenders.
Undercard was good, even with the cheesy post-match between Cage and Mundo (also, where did Killshot go after the match? He couldn't have been out for that long, could he?)
I like how the title picture in LU is always so goddamn stacked. There is never just one number one contender, Cuerno, Puma and Pentagon jr. and one of them is going to have to beat the other two in line. And since this is Lucha Underground, the babyface isn't automatically naive enough to trust either of them, or above double crossing them when he has the chance.
Sad that there was no Dario and Matanza this week, but it's gonna be interesting to see how Rey-Rey is gonna work out in the mentor role. I liked Konnan a lot in season 1, but Rey-Rey isn't exactly the type who can teach you all the dirty moves and I somehow can't picture him in a straight up coaching role.

The "feuding main event singles guys beat tag team champions" thing is something we always complain about in WWE and with good reason, but really, here it's just two local men and Sin Cara's freeloading brother. They're the trios champs to add to the story of Muertes' dominance, not because they're anything special themselves. {Spoiler}Well, that is good news. Any word on Flamita? {Spoiler}Flamita wrestled at least one dark match this season, not sure he did anything that'll be televised.

That simpson's quote finder is going to be in heavy rotation for a while. haha! But yeah, the wrestler under the KM mask is a pretty solid hand in the ring. I saw her and Cheerleader Melissa put on a VERY good match a few months back at a local indie. So I'm optimistic about her being there, especially with this gimmick as she usually does kind of a generic fiery babyface, but she's got a TON of upside in general.

I hope this opens up opportunitiesfor some of her regular opponents as well.

She's been a regular at my local Indy, and at the last show she had more t-shirts and signs than anyone, male or female. Glad she's getting a shot, she deserves it.

Forgive me, as I don't watch much in AAA...
Can RM still go? I know towards the end of his WWE run he was kind of the drizzling shits.
Has the time off and reduced schedule made him any better?

Watching the first episode of season 2 and this triple threat feels super awkward and sloppy even with all the editing.
